We are now looking for
Study Manager (Process Background) to execute projects and support bids in Abu Dhabi, UAE.


Reports To
The
Study Manager (Process Background) reports to Head of Process Discipline.


Job Overview
Study Manager is required to support the execution of Study/Concept Projects.

The Study Manager will be the primary focal point for a cross-functional team evaluating all the options and concepts of the Study projects and will involve in the development of alternative concepts and contribution to the evaluation of the optimum solutions/recommendations to achieve the project objective.


The main responsibilities of the study manager include developing study design basis, execution strategies/methodologies, review/perform of simulations & calculations, adequacy checks, and report writing, option screening, evaluation & selection, presentations to the stake holders, input into development decisions, techno-commercial evaluations, and coordination with other disciplines and with external engineering consultants/OEMs.


Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Develops study design basis and design criteria, and execution methodology.
  • Review/prepare study/concept engineering deliverables (such as BFDs, PFDs, H&MBs, P&ID's, Calculations, adequacy checks, Simulations, Philosophies, Procedures, Reports etc.).
  • Review/prepare process simulation with software such as Aspen Hysys, FlareNET, Pipesim, HTRI, Pipenet, and others (OLGA Added Advantage), and should be able guide the team and perform reviews.
  • Review/prepare Process Descriptions, Operating & Control narratives, Shutdown philosophies, and other documents.
  • Review/prepare process summaries and schedules (effluents & emissions, chemical, and catalyst, utilities, adequacy checks, tieins, relief valves summary).
  • Lead and participate in Technical Design Reviews (P&ID's, Plot Plan, others), Safety Reviews (HAZID, HAZOP, others as per requirement) etc.
  • Strictly adhere to industry standards, codes and engineering practices, and Company's engineering guidelines.
  • Ensure proper Quality Control & Quality Assurance activities including adherence to applicable project plan/project quality plan/QM procedures.
  • Carry out any other duties as advised by management in view of business requirements.
  • Conversant with the Engineering Standards such as API, NFPA, ASME, BS / EN, etc. and ADNOC standards.
  • Ensures requirements of Licensor's/ Client's secrecy agreement are known and complied with the work performed.
  • Alert/advise the Project Manager on change management and change control.
  • Ensures that deliverables are provided to the project are technically accurate, within the scope.
  • Review of the vendor's quotations, and review of the supplier's documentation.
  • Provide input into review and validation of process simulations and results generated by external consultants, where necessary.
  • Review and approve process engineering deliverables generated by external consultants.

Educational Qualifications and Experience:


  • Education: Degree in chemical, process or petroleum engineering from a recognized university required. Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience: 20+ years total experience (with 15+ years in Oil & Gas Industry, and 5+ years in Study/Concept Projects). Previous experience in conceptual engineering and leadership experience with prior experience on ADNOC study/concept projects is essential.

Required Competencies:


Technical:


  • General chemical engineering, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mass transfer, specific knowledge of Onshore & Offshore oil & gas processing, gas treatment (dehydration, dew point control, sour gas treatment etc.), gas compression, gas injection & gas lift, produced water treatment, injection & disposal, utilities, flow assurance, process equipment sizing and rating, with complete awareness of contributions of other entities to frontend engineering activities, conceptual issues, and thorough knowledge of process engineering software.
  • Experience in Process Simulation Software like Aspen Hysys, FlareNET, Pipesim, HTRI, Pipenet, others (OLGA Added Advantage), and should be able to guide the team and perform reviews.
  • Knowledge of international standards, local regulations, and industrial best practices.
