    Job Scope

    General Scope:
    Perform preventive, corrective and other maintenance services ensuring timely completion of tasks.

    Ensure all life support systems operate within environmental regulations and permit conditions; maintain water quality for the health of animals, mammals, fish, and humans.

    Analyze data from control systems, meters, laboratory or other staff to troubleshoot water quality, flow or other system problems.
    Perform various troubleshooting techniques related to field of expertise.

    Utilize safe handling, storage and disposal practices for toxic substances and hazardous waste in accordance with company SOPs and manuals.

    Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities and report status to the ALSS leadership team.
    Maintain cleanliness and organization of all chemical drums, storage areas and workstations.
    Maintain the department's tools, parts, materials and equipment inventory.
    Work in vaults and other confined spaces utilizing proper safety techniques and equipment.
    Complete all required trainings; maintain professional development and competencies.
    Perform other duties assigned by the ALSS leadership.

    Technical Scope of Pump Mechanic:


    Inspect, diagnose and perform major and minor repair works on all ALSS pumps, motors, hydraulic equipment, compressors, controls and related equipment; rebuild equipment to manufacturer specification.

    Conduct analyses and inspections of mechanical systems to determine cost‑effective maintenance, repair or replacement strategies.
    Ensure continuous operation of all saltwater, freshwater and water treatment systems.

    Technical Scope of Systems Automation:


    Test, troubleshoot, repair and maintain low and medium voltage industrial electrical systems, components, ozone generators, UV sterilizers, level sensors, ORP and pH probes, motors and machinery.

    Install, maintain, repair and calibrate a wide variety of ALSS electronic recording and indicating instruments.
    Monitor and operate automated life support systems and water treatment facilities.
    Install conduits, wires, pull boxes required for additions, extensions or alterations in electrical systems.

    Technical Scope of Filtration Mechanic:
    Monitor real‑time water quality and system trends from computer‑based controls and respond to alarms or out-of-range conditions.
    Drain, fill and isolate all habitats, holding pools, decontamination pools and waterfalls.
    Adjust and add to maintain water balance per corporate and local regulatory requirements.
    Perform filter, pump, valve and piping maintenance and repairs.
    Conduct proper water chemistry testing and understand results, taking appropriate actions.
    Job Essentials
    Diploma related to technical qualification
    3 years of related experience or equivalent education and experience
    Basic English communication skills (verbal and written)
    Excellent troubleshooting skills in a related field
    Working knowledge of basic hand tools and measuring devices
    Basic computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel)
    Pump Mechanic
    Demonstrated mechanical/technical knowledge in ALSS, public pools or wastewater treatment
    Working knowledge of mechanics—motors, hydraulics, centrifugal and vertical pumps, compressors, liquid metering pumps
    Ability to interpret pump curves
    Ability to diagnose and repair a variety of pump problems, from cavitation to excessive vibration
    Systems Automation
    Demonstrated knowledge of electronic‑based controls and programming ability
    Working knowledge of electronic control systems and telemetry equipment
    Experience installing, calibrating, troubleshooting and repairing control systems and instruments
    Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics and symbols
    Filtration Mechanic
    Knowledge of operation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of small pumps and related equipment
    Knowledge of automated controls, pneumatics and electro‑mechanical devices
    Knowledge of mechanical, chemical and biological filtration as applied to animal life support systems
    Ability to interpret PID layouts and understand pipe installation
    Job Desirables
    Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or Marine Engineering or equivalent
    2 years of experience in aquatic life support systems in a zoo, aquarium or oceanarium setting
    Knowledge of a Computerized Maintenance Management System
