FABRIC's role is to serve as a critical enabler of innovation and FAB's wider digital transformation agenda in this era of continuous change.

FABRIC focuses on designing customer-facing solutions to meet the unique and rapidly changing needs of the Bank.

Through the right mix of creativity, technology and expertise, FABRIC enables FAB teams to solve business challenges in an accelerated way by working collaboratively.

FABRIC is a platform to develop new products, services and solutions with partners, startups and technologists. Our vision is to create a culture of tangible innovation throughout the Group. One that engages FAB employees to create sustainable ideas that generate business and commercial value.

FABRIC is made up of 5 key components:


  • Co:Create: Enables teams across the bank to solve business challenges through the right mix of people, process and technology

FinTech:Engage the maturing fintech ecosystem. Better identify, validate & work with fintech companies -
Research: Research and user testing to enable real customers to validate projects and initiatives

Innovation Strategy: A program to engage staff across the bank to inspire, educate and enable teams to leverage the lab and its toolkit

Product Design: Design center of excellence. Championing design principles and craft across the bank.


Key Accountabilities

  • The Head of Innovation Strategy is a key driver of FABRIC success. (S)he will ensure FABRIC is a critical enabler of tangible corporate innovation and FAB's wider digital transformation goals in an era of constant, disruptive change
  • As the Head of the Innovation Strategy team, (s)he will support the core FABRIC teams (FinTech, Co:Create, UX Research, Design Studio) to deliver meaningful, impactful and measurable innovation

Innovation Toolkit

  • Ensure the Innovation Toolkit is available, actionable, and valuable. Track the impact & value of the Innovation Toolkit with core teams
  • Ensure FABRIC is introducing relevant and impactful tools, thinking, training and techniques to help teams to innovate, solve problems in new ways and deliver measurable value

Innovation Program

  • Lead, mature and manage a program of activity to inspire teams to be more creative, reach for innovation, and explore new ways of working. Including key events, workshops and activities to drive conversion on the Innovation Toolkit
  • Lead, mature and manage bankwide Innovation Talks with global speakers and industry experts / influencers
  • Create and manage workshops to enable teams to fall in love with the problem and identify the root cause or "jobs to be done" for key challenges

Capability Building

  • Lead, mature and manage focussed training to upskill teams across the bank on Design Thinking, FinTech and Creativity. With a goal to act on the services in the Innovation Toolkit
  • Develop and deliver the bank's FinTech curriculum, with a focus on Open Banking and how it will impact FAB
  • Develop and deliver the bank's Design Thinking curriculum, with a focus on better developing customer experiences and digital products

Storytelling

  • Build bank wide awareness and meaningful engagement with FABRIC and our toolkit of services through PR, Comms and Influence
  • Establish the FABRIC rich content capabilities with internal / external partners to promote and evangelise Innovation at FAB
  • Lead, mature and manage the FABRIC internal podcast and social presence

Leadership

  • Evangelize FABRIC across the bank with key stakeholders. Manage complex relationships with senior leaders at FAB
  • The ability to enable and empower teams to innovate and cocreate
  • Showcase the lab to internal stakeholders and visitors
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly and effectively present concepts and justify decisions
