Job Purpose


To achieve operational excellence throughout all Operations and Maintenance (O&M) activities by identifying, executing, contributing to, and coordinating programs, initiatives, and knowledge management across the Business Line (BL).

Key Accountabilities

Generic Accountabilities

Strategy Contribution

  • Review and challenge the O&M aspects of OpCo annual Business Plans
  • Ensure effective cascading of functional strategies into OpCo Business Plans to ensure vertical alignment.
  • Ensure horizontal integration with strategies of other functions (e.g., HSE, HC, Subsurface).
People Management

  • Maximize sectional performance through managing the achievement of assigned objectives through setting of KPIs, communicating feedback, motivating, and developing staff.
  • Analyse and develop OpCo O&M organisations that will efficiently deliver the Business Plan
  • Support the talent development initiatives to ensure the availability of talent to fit business requirements.
  • Act as a role model and drive adherence to organizational values and ethics.
Collaboration and Delivery with Business Partners

  • Collaborate proactively with the Business Line's business partners (HSE, Human Capital, Finance, Supply Chain, IT and Legal) to codeliver the plans and KPIs in line with the Business Plan.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

  • Manage and ensure effective implementation of the function's policies, procedures and controls, covering all areas of section activity, so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled.
Continuous Improvement

  • Lead the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes, and practices, considering: HSE, Risk management, productivity improvement, cost optimisation.
Reporting

  • Ensure that relevant section and OpCo reports are prepared accurately and meet Business Line requirements.
Job Specific Accountabilities

Operational Excellence

  • Measure and assess operational performance against BL strategic goals, Business Plans and KPIs.
  • Identify Operations & Maintenance (O&M) excellence improvements and drive implementation.
  • Review, challenge, and drive optimisation of the OpCo operating expense (opex), availability and production performance.
  • Work with OpCos to identify and implement initiatives that would enhance operational performance. Manage initiatives that enhance HSE performance, opex efficiency, production, quality.
  • Ensure the scoping and scheduling of planned, and unplanned, maintenance activities is carried out in the most efficient and timely manner.
  • Provide BL management with analysis and reports regarding O&M risks, issues, mitigations, improvement actions and recommended solutions.
  • Identify operational synergies and shape collaboration across OpCos that optimize cost and performance.
Projects Operational Readiness

  • Review, challenge and promote the O&M aspects of OpCo investment proposals
  • Determine and ensure O&M responsibilities and inputs to projects that ensure efficient handover, startup and operation.
  • Provide O&M input and steer to the development, implementation, and monitoring of the performance of new projects.
Best Practices

  • Guide and direct efforts for best practice identification and implementation.
  • Develop operational efficiency measures and perform analyses on performance to serve in the optimization of cost, production, availability, and improved profitability of the O&G BL.
  • Identify root causes behind process upsets through troubleshooting and provide recommendations.
  • Manage the generation of bestinclass standards and systems, standardize, and adopt consistently across the Business Line.
Technical Support

  • Facilitate shared learning through training and certifications, skill assessments, team building and formalized roles.
  • Provide technical support to the operations of the OpCos and advise on changes to operating conditions/parameters to meet production plans and targets at optimum operating costs.
Qualification and Experience

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum/Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum Experience

  • 12 years of relevant experience in operations and maintenance in upstream Oil & Gas.
