The Welding and Fabrication Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of welding and fabrication projects. This role involves managing resources, budgets, and timelines to ensure high-quality standards, safety, and cost-efficiency throughout the lifecycle of the projects. The project manager will coordinate with engineering, procurement, and operations teams to successfully deliver projects in the welding and fabrication sector, ensuring adherence to client requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• ProjectPlanning & Coordination:
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope, schedule, cost estimates, and resource allocation.
• Define project objectives and deliverables, aligning them with client requirements and company goals.
• Coordinate with engineering teams, procurement, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure all project needs are met.
• Ensure that welding and fabrication activities align with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• TeamLeadership & Management:
• Lead and manage a team of welders, fabricators, engineers, and technicians throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to team members to enhance their skills and ensure efficiency.
• Allocate tasks, monitor team performance, and ensure work is completed on schedule and to the required standards.
• Foster a collaborative and motivated team environment to drive project success.
• Budget & Cost Control:
• Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring costs are controlled and within the approved limits.
• Monitor and track expenditures related to materials, labor, equipment, and other resources.
• Approve purchases and work with suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and compliance.
• QualityControl & Safety Management:
• Ensure that welding and fabrication work meets the required industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
• Conduct regular quality inspections, audits, and testing to ensure the integrity and functionality of welded and fabricated products.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols to mitigate risks and prevent workplace accidents.
• Address any safety concerns or non-compliance issues promptly, ensuring a safe working environment.
• RiskManagement & Problem Solving:
• Identify potential project risks (technical, financial, and operational) and develop strategies to mitigate them.
• Solve technical challenges and conflicts that arise during the project, including welding issues, material shortages, or logistical problems.
• Establish contingency plans to address unforeseen issues and minimize project disruptions.
• StakeholderCommunication:
• Act as the main point of contact for clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Provide regular updates to clients and senior management on project progress, timelines, and any issues that arise.
• Prepare and deliver project reports, including progress tracking, financial status, and resource management.
• Facilitate effective communication between the project team and external stakeholders.
• Oversee the procurement of welding materials, tools, and fabrication equipment.
• Evaluate and select suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring high-quality products and services.
• Manage contracts, ensuring all terms are met, and resolve any issues with vendors or contractors.
• ProjectHandover:
• Ensure timely and smooth project handover, including the completion of all project documentation, quality checks, and testing.
• Prepare detailed handover reports, providing clients with necessary documentation, warranties, and certifications.
• Ensure any post-project maintenance or operational support is provided.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Additional certifications in welding or project management (e.g., PMP, AWS) would be an advantage.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in welding, fabrication, or mechanical project management, including 5-8 years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience managing large-scale welding and fabrication projects, preferably in the oil & gas, construction, shutdown and Maintenance.
• In-depth knowledge of welding processes, codes, and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, ISO).
• In-depth knowledge of equipment revamping of Static Equipments like Reactors, Reformer Tubes, Heat Exchanger new-new material welding, old-new material welding.
• Strong experience with project budgeting, scheduling, and resource management.
• Skills:
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficient in using project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and familiar with welding/fabrication-related tools and technologies.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Certifications:
• Valid certifications in welding (e.g., AWS, ASME) and project management (e.g., PMP) are highly desirable.
• Familiarity with local and international welding codes and safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience working with international teams or managing cross-border projects.
• Familiarity with 3D CAD software or other design tools used in fabrication and welding.

Working Conditions

• The role may require frequent travel to project sites, including remote locations or offshore.
• The position may involve working in various environmental conditions (e.g., construction sites, factories, etc.).
• Flexibility in working hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines.
