    Description
    • Assesses, plans, implements andevaluates nursing unit orientation, learning and developmentprograms consistent with hospital's mission andgoals.
    • Acts as mentor and clinical resource atthe unit level.
    • Conducts formal and informalteaching sessions at unit level.
    • Develops andimplements competency based assessment programs.
    • Manages and maintains a computerized data basefor staff competency development plans and education attendance.Provides regular updates to departmentDirector.
    • Provides an educational resourceservice within assigned area/s and additional units asrequired.
    • Supports hospital policies and servesas a professional role model for staff.
    • Worksin other areas within the hospital when assigned, within the scopeof practice.
    • Maintains clinical andprofessional competency based on the latest research andestablished standards of practice. Completes all Core Competenciesfor nursing as well as applicable Unit Specific Competencies withinprescribed timelines.
    • Demonstrates awarenessand knowledge of Infection Control, Pain Management and Wound Carepractices and standards. Reports and documents as directed in therelevant policies and procedures.
    • Understandsthe responsibilities of safe handling, and administration ofNarcotic / Controlled Drugs and documentation as directed bypolicies and procedures.
    • Demonstrates supportof leadership. Encourages team decisions, cooperation within andacross departments and assist in resolving differences ofopinion.
    • Demonstrates ability to impartknowledge in critical thinking to new employees andcolleagues.
    • Participate in hospital-wide andnursing committees/ Taskforces andprojects.
    • Demonstrates understanding andfamiliarity with Facility Management and SafetyPlan.
    • Demonstrates organizational skills (timemanagement).
    • Actively participates inhospital/department quality improvementinitiatives.
    • Attends the monthly NurseManagement Team meeting and monthly Educationmeeting.
    • Maintains annual educationrequirements and participates in ongoing educationactivities.
    • Assists with departmentalcompetency planning/review.
    • Conduct needsassessments using a variety ofstrategies
    • Involve learners in assessment ofneeds and identification of outcomes
    • Selectappropriate teaching strategies to facilitate behaviouralchange
    • Coaches and provides feedback to improveperformance
    • Provides technical assistance tostaff in the use of equipment
    • Maintain andpromote a care setting that respects age, cultural, economic,ethnic, and lifestyle differences of patients, families, andstaff.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimumthree year Diploma in Nursing (duration not less than threeyears)
    • Bachelor Degree Nursingpreferred
    • Post Graduate qualification inrelevant specialty areadesired

    PROFESSIONALEXPERIENCE:

    • Currentlicense to practice nursing in country of origin and with theDHA
    • Five (5) years current clinical experiencein specific area of practice Critical care units and OutpatientClinics
    • Two (2) years clinical teachingexperience in clinical environment
    • Recentexperience in a JCI accredited acute care medical facilitydesired
    • Computer literacy consistent with therole.
