    EssentialResponsibilities

    • This position, knows and complieswith all Kaiser Permanente quality, safety, and emergency policiesand procedures. Demonstrates quality and effectiveness in workhabits and clinical practice in every interaction with patients,colleagues, providers, and leadership. Ensures patient safety inthe preparation and provisioning of care related to but not limitedto medications, procedures, infection prevention, fall prevention,including consistent use of two patient identifiers and proceduraltime outs. Reports safety hazards, accidents and incidents, andunsafe working conditions promptly.
    • Dispenses,compounds, procures, stores, packages and distributes pharmacyproducts according to legal requirements, established policies andprocedures and acceptable professional practices, documentsresponsibility by signing or initialing prescriptions, batch sheetsor other forms according to established policies andprocedures.
    • Evaluated and resolves, accordingto established policies and procedures, potential drug therapyproblems identified through any and all available sources,including any pharmacy informationsystem.
    • Provides direction to pharmacy Interns,pharmacy Technicians and other pharmacy personnel by makingsuggestions and answering questions, resolving professional andclerical problems, orienting new employees to assigned duties,training employees in new procedures and techniques and checkingtheir work for errors and adherence to established policies andprocedures, documents verification by signing or initialingprescriptions, batch sheets or other forms, temporarily substitutesfor absent pharmacy personnel, asnecessary.
    • Interviews patients to obtaininformation regarding drug use, drug allergies and sensitivities,documents the information in the patients medical record orpharmacy information system, advises patient on significantprecautions, proper drug therapy and administration, the use ofrelated devices, and the coordination of drug therapy with diet,according to established policies andprocedures.
    • Confers with medical personnelconcerning care and treatment of patients related clinicaldiagnosis, drug combinations and dosage forms, and other factorsthat might influence the course of treatment and the activity ofthe drugs, including drug identification, suggests changes in drugtherapy and/or use, as appropriate.
    • Maintainsrecords of drugs and controlled substances as required by federaland state law. Maintains records pertinent to the purchase andcontrol of narcotics and alcohol, following establishedprocedures.
    • Accepts the responsibility forresolving operational problems, in the absence of, or as assignedby, supervision, such as resolving professional problems related tothe interpretation of prescriptions, drug furnishingirregularities, service complaints and technical problems such asequipment needs and drug procurement, etc., according toestablished policies and procedures.
    • Checkequipment used to prepare and dispense medications for properfunctioning, report deficiencies to appropriatepersonnel.
    • Maintains work area and equipment inan organized and clean condition, maintains a safe and efficientwork environment.
    • Established and maintainscourteous and cooperative relations with the public, patients andother personnel.
    • Keeps abreast of all currentdrug information as it relates to medicines, their uses, dosagesand inherent side effects.

    • Graduation from an accredited schoolof pharmacy with completed pharmacy internship.

    License, Certification,Registration

    • PharmacistLicense (Colorado)
    • National Provider Identifierrequired at hire

    AdditionalRequirements

    • Effective verbal and writtencommunication skills.
    • Must authorize a screening.
    • Demonstrated customer serviceskills, customer focus abilities and the ability to understandKaiser Permanente customer needs.
