    The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) is the supervisory and regulatory authority of the banking and insurance sector in the United Arab Emirates. The CBUAE is responsible for enhancing monetary management, financial stability and protecting consumers through effective supervision of licensed financial institutions, prudent management of reserves, robust financial infrastructure and the adoption of digital technologies.

    CBUAE is currently looking to hire a seasoned and highly motivated individual with extensive hands-on technical and managerial experience in finance and/or economics, preferably in the context of monetary policy and/or operations. It requires strong analytical and leadership skills, as well as frequent interaction and effective communication with staff and (senior) management across the organisation.

    KeyAccountabilities:

    • Provide in-depth analytical support and strategic advice with primary responsibility for market surveillance, including keeping abreast of money markets and interest rates (domestic/international) and banking sector liquidity.
    • Analyze, integrate and evaluate relevant information on money and capital markets as well as monetary policy effectiveness, including drafting reports/providing timely and effective insights for senior management, Monetary and Reserves Committee and external stakeholders. Familiarity with quantitative tools and methodologies for the analysis of local money and capital markets- yield curve analysis is essential.
    • Support the calibration of open market operations and other related monetary policy issues.
    • Ensuring availability of relevant monetary data for external parties including domestic financial institutions, the IMF and other international financial institution as required.
    • Perform a wide range of liaison and follow-up duties to ensure assigned tasks are handled collaboratively and facilitate knowledge sharing. Develop and maintain excellent relationships with all key stakeholders across the CBUAE.
    • Supervisory responsibility, such as helping to determine and monitor work programmes, overseeing specific tasks, undertaking quality control, and mentoring/guiding junior members of the team and supporting their professional development.
    • Manage communication flows, briefing notes, and other documentation behalf of the Chief – Monetary Policy and/or Director(s) and review outcomes with them.
    • Perform all other functions that may be assigned by the Chief – Monetary Policy and duties within the scope of work.

    Position Specifications:

    • Advanced university degree (Master's or PhD).
    • 8+ years of professional experience with (at least) some managerial functions.
    • Strong background in economics, econometrics, or monetary finance.
    • Proficiency in statistical software packages such as EViews, Matlab and/or R/Python.
    • CFA or FRM would be an advantage.
    • Appropriate familiarity with the UAE and international financial markets would be an advantage.
    • Exhibiting independent judgment and the ability to influence, balance multiple stakeholder expectations and objectives.
    • Dealing sensitively in multicultural environments and builds effective working relations with colleagues and external stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in English, Arabic is an advantage.

    This role is onsite and based in Abu Dhabi.
