Your Opportunity

We are looking for a Regional Category Manager that provides category and market expertise and support to effectively manage Serco's spend and supply base for multiple spend categories in the Middle East region, wherethey will be engaging and managing selected key regional suppliers in collaboration with key stakeholders across business units, delivering sourcing and continuous improvement projects, optimising value delivery, performance improvement and risk mitigation from the supply base.


The role also provides leadership and line management to the regional Sourcing teams (Buyers and Senior Buyers) working on the delivery of sourcing projects across all spend categories.


This role is part of the finance team and will be based in our corporate office in Dubai, supporting Serco Middle East business in the region.

Key Accountabilities

Accountable for category management of the Middle East spend categories within the region from strategy creation through to the delivery of business outcomes and performance targets including in-year and annualised savings targets as agreed through the planning process
Work with the group heads of categories to agree where regional spend should be managed under a global category strategy and where category strategy will be defined regionally
Educate and influence key stakeholders to support category strategy development, endorse recommended category strategies, support implementation and agree how benefits will be captured
Leverage one's own category and market expertise and that of Serco colleagues, Procurement Business Partners and key stakeholders to support Serco in optimising value, managing demand and mitigating risk from the third-party supply base for the Middle East send categories
Collaborate with key stakeholders and Procurement colleagues to capture business requirements and support the creation, implementation and management of comprehensive regional category strategies for all procurement categories spend including but not limited to: corporate services, fire & rescue services, FM, manpower (or input to global strategies), and that recognise and support Serco's corporate objectives and local market requirements
Contribute to the global categories community of practice and encourage and support other regional team members to participate in other category communities of practice
Translate category strategies into a clear and prioritised pipeline of sourcing projects for execution by the regional Sourcing & Category Management team
Lead delivery of complex and/or higher value sourcing and continuous improvement projects with the support of Buyers or working on one's own
Oversee and manage the creation of the regional Procurement pipeline with input from Business Partners, Senior Buyers, Buyers and stakeholders
Driving sustainable value from key supplier relationships and ensuring that benefits are recognised by key stakeholders to allow benefit delivery

Specific Requirements

Essential technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualifications - Graduate calibre with a Bachelor's degree

Post-graduate qualification (e.g. MSc/MBA) or a professional qualification such as MCIPS is desirable but not essential

At least 3 years' experience in a category management role

Will have worked in a complex changing environment with demanding business objectives in a competitive market sector

Demonstrates a consistent track record of delivery within large and complex Procurement organisations

Will have a track record of category and supplier management, effecting change and continuous improvement through creation and implementation of innovative category strategies and building of effective supplier relationships

Has strong relevant category, market and supplier knowledge in the region (including but not limited to: corporate services, manpower, FM, fire & rescue services)

Has a strategic mindset while being flexible to local differences and creative to encourage and seek innovative approaches

Demonstrates track record of developing and maintaining strong senior stakeholder relationships
