    Job Description:

    Responsibilities:

  • To develop an understanding of the Special Educational Needs of the student/s concerned
  • To consider the student/s' special needs and ensure their access to the lesson and its content through appropriate clarification, explanations, equipment, and materials
  • To build and maintain successful relationships with student(s), treat them consistently, with respect and consideration
  • Listening to teachers and parents about the academic and behavior To provide learning support for the pupil(s) in class or 1:1 situations.
  • To develop knowledge of the particular needs of the children and seek advice from the SENCo, class teacher, and SEN Teacher as required.
  • To aid access to the full range of learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom and provide modified materials as required e.g. worksheets, games, visual prompt cards etc.
  • To make or modify resources as suggested and advised by the SENCo, school counselor, or other outside agencies.
  • Provide positive reinforcements, praise, and rewards to pupils, implement, monitor, and provide data regarding student's behavior plans.
  • Facilitate inclusion in small group activities with peers and support interaction between them.
  • To attend in-service training and relevant meetings relevant to the post to keep up to date with developments in working with children with special educational needs.
  • To provide regular feedback to the SENCo and, where necessary, relevant outside agencies about any pupil's difficulties, progress, and attendance.
  • To contribute to the pupils' annual review by writing a brief report and attending the meeting.
  • To foster links between home and school.
  • To understand and apply the school policies on learning and behavior, and the statutory guidelines relating to disability discrimination and special educational needs.
  • To maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the pupils' needs but have regard to the safeguarding procedures of the school.
  • To carry out duties as directed by the SENCO or SEN Teacher
  • Undertake other duties from time to time as the principal requires
  • Intimate care to pupils as needed and advised
