    WSP is seeking an accomplished Technical Director – Water to lead and expand our water engineering and design capabilities across the UAE and the wider Middle East. You will play a strategic and hands‑on leadership role in delivering complex water infrastructure projects, driving technical excellence, and supporting the continued growth of WSP's water business in the region.

    This is a high-impact position suitable for a senior industry professional with extensive experience in water networks, pumping stations, transmission systems, reservoirs, and integrated water solutions.

    Responsibilities

    Technical Leadership

    • Provide expert technical leadership and oversight across all water design projects, including water supply networks, transmission pipelines, pumping stations, reservoirs, and associated infrastructure.
    • Ensure the highest levels of quality, innovation, and compliance with UAE and regional authority standards.
    • Lead design reviews, value engineering exercises, and complex engineering problem-solving.
    • Champion best‑practice design methodologies, digital solutions, and sustainability-focused approaches.

    Project Delivery & Oversight

    • Act as Technical Lead on major water projects from concept through detailed design and delivery.
    • Oversee multidisciplinary coordination and ensure seamless integration of civil, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and environmental disciplines.
    • Support project directors and managers with planning, risk management, and technical strategy.
    • Contribute to preparation of technical reports, design documentation, and client presentations.

    Client & Stakeholder Engagement

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients—including government entities, utilities, and developers—in the UAE and wider GCC.
    • Represent WSP as a technical authority in meetings, workshops, and industry forums.
    • Provide trusted guidance to clients on water planning, design, and asset management challenges.

    Business Growth & Strategy

    • Support business development activities, including proposal leadership, technical write‑ups, and bid reviews.
    • Identify opportunities for expanding WSP's water portfolio across the Middle East.
    • Mentor and grow the internal water engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Engineering; Master's degree preferred. 
    • 20+ years of experience in water engineering, with at least 8–10 years in senior leadership roles. 
    • Proven expertise delivering large-scale water supply and infrastructure design projects in the UAE or GCC. 
    • Strong understanding of UAE authority standards—particularly for Abu Dhabi and Dubai. 
    • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams. 
    • Excellent stakeholder and client engagement skills.  
    • Strong commercial understanding and experience supporting major bids and frameworks. 
    • Chartered status (CEng, PE, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
