Description

4.0.1 Responsible for reviewing requests for medical equipment and supplies received from all Departments within the Medical Organization to see if they are feasible to the operation and that all spare parts and accessories are included.

4.0.2 Initiates and responsible to guide the team to select the materials to be stocked, recommends the initial amount required, estimates the annual usage and prepares data for catalog and purchase descriptions.

4.0.3 Approves operating procedures, indoctrinates personnel concerned, co-ordinates functions involving medical and non-medical supply items.

4.0.4 Is an active member of the Infections Control, Safety, and Standardization Committees to support the materials ordering conformance to the infection control and safety standards.

4.0.5 Keeps abreast of new medical machinery and material by reading trade journals and various vendor's literature on a routine basis.

4.0.6 Applies this knowledge in contacts with user departments to assist them in reaching decisions on equipment requirements or modifications.

4.0.7 Recommends and arranges for disposal of all obsolete Hospital material.

4.0.8 Coordinates all medical supply requisitions through the Purchasing Department.

4.0.9 Works with line personnel and with appropriate Materials Supply personnel to help resolve immediate and short-term materials acquisition problems.

4.0.10 Prepares correspondence regarding materials availability, status and current expediting action to the Central Purchasing under the supervision of Materials Manager.

4.0.11 Provides work direction to assigned materials personnel as necessary.

4.0.12 Performs managerial functions commensurate to the segment as established by management.
