About us:


At Maharat Learning Center we support children and young adults with Specific Learning Difficulties including Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), as well as other cognitive disorders, developmental delays and learning difficulties that may be affecting their academic performance, and promote their inclusion in to the broader community.

Our programs are individualized and our teaching style utilizes Assistive Technology, Augmentative Alternative Communication, ABA teaching techniques, online resources, virtual reality, robotics and other innovative technology to teach children and young adults the academic, social and life skills they need to succeed in school, college and life.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develops IEP for children with additional needs
  • Ensures Individual Educational Plans (IEP) is designed, integrated and coordinated to achieve maximum effectiveness for each student and continuously reviewed and updated.
  • Ensures proper written documentation and verbal communications
- day to day communications, monthly or quarterly reports; treatment plans as required.

  • Conducts and facilitates parent, staff, teacher and various trainings and lectures as required.
  • Available to lead an ABA Classroom setting with 8 to 10 children.
  • Implements techniques based on Applied Behavior Analysis during classroom instruction with children with autism and related disorders and other developmental delays in the school setting.
  • Collects data and maintain documentation pertaining to each child's program.
  • Assist with other administrative tasks when necessary.
  • Teach socially acceptable behavior, as determined by the students' individualized education programs (IEPs) by employing techniques in an overall positive behavioral support system.
  • Modify the curriculum for students based upon their level of function and needs
  • Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
  • Meet with parents to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their individualized educational needs.
  • Meet with parents and professionals to develop individualized education programs (IEPs) designed to promote students' educational, physical, and social/emotional development.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records and prepare reports on children and activities, as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives with parents.
  • Develop plans for effective communication, monitoring, and followup of students in inclusive classroom settings.
  • Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team as appropriate.
  • Maintain professional competence by participating in staff development activities, curriculum development meetings, and other professional opportunities.
  • Communicates and follows up with the Executive Director, Managing Director, Clients, and all staff on a timely business manner.
  • Assists in answering questions.
  • Provides academic tutoring to clients as needed.
  • Communicates questions, child's progress, or other feedback to concerned clinical staff.
  • Assist with other administrative tasks when necessary.
  • Arrives on time to all scheduled sessions; mínimal therapistinitiated cancellations.
  • Represents Maharat professionally and ethically.
  • Maintains accurate and timely records including timesheets and reports.
  • Providing such other services as are ancillary to the foregoing or as the Employer may reasonably request (preparing therapy material, etc.) (collectively, the "Services").

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology / Special Education is preferred.
  • Previous experience in ABA and working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder is desirable. However, if you have a passion for working with children and/or are a graduate student looking for hands on experience you are welcome to apply.
