Responsible for preparing clients for hair removal, tattoo removal, minimizing the appearance of wrinkles, operating approved laser devices and providing clients with post-treatment skin care. Also provide general nursing care and leadership, working collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary team members.

Responsibilities

Laser Technician:

• Responsible for the competent physical documented assessment (using all sources to hand including observation and communication) and subsequent preparation of appropriate treatment for a patient's skin care needs based on good clinical knowledge, experience, and consultation with a Dermatologist/Physician

• Responsible for the trained and competent use of Laser machines for the purpose of hair removal as recognized by the certification of the Dermatologists in CosmeSurge

• Provides up-to-date and sanctioned knowledge and empathic support for clients who wish to, or those who need to undergo hair removal treatment (including permanent, hair reduction, laser skin resurfacing and vascular lesions with the Dermatologist). This may include laser tattoo removal.

• The treatment and care of skin pre and post procedure and surgery including the identification of wounds, types and stages of healing and the necessity of informing and working with medical practitioners should the case indicate.

• The treatment and care of facial skin to maintain and improve its appearance, including understanding about the sun and its effect on the skin.

• The provision, based on competence, of pain relief and stress reduction and anxiety reduction techniques prior to procedures provided by a dermatologist.

• Ensures timely and accurate documentation of all procedures including detailed informed consents, and patient education regarding equipment and skin care protocols.

• The provision of safe, independent, high-quality care, in the clinics/outpatient and surgical office setting, under the auspices and adhering to standard precautions, occupational, health, environment and safety standards as mandated by CS and DOH and including particular attention to the prevention and control of infections.

• Responsible for handling all cleaning and decontamination procedures as required for any instruments/bits and pieces of equipment used, in conjunction with strict Infection Control practices and support from CSSD. Ensures cleanliness of clinic at start and during sessions

• Anticipates, recognizes, manages emergencies and unsafe situations and practice, initiating appropriate and timely interventions.

• Performs all duties in a professional and confidential manner.

 Registered Nurse:

• Collects information on patient status from a variety of sources using assessment skills including observation, communication and physical assessment.

• Completes nursing portion of history and physical form on all assigned patients on all assigned patients on entry to the Out Patient department.

• Completes the vital signs and pain assessment stamped form on every visit, signs and documents all interactions with the patient in the progress notes

• Plans care needed during the Out Patient visit.

• Sets priorities when planning and carrying out Doctors' orders and care.

• Initiates prompt nursing interventions bases on changes in the patient condition, age and circumstances, if necessary.

• Is adept and knowledgeable with the use of specific equipment used in the assigned department.

• Is a developing clinical expert within the Out Patient department

• Ensures timely and accurate documentation of all patients records according to CosmeSurge standards and policies.

• Anticipates, recognizes and manages emergencies, and unsafe situations/practice, and initiates appropriate and timely intervention.

• Influences and facilitates change within the department in order to improve standards of care.

• Performs all duties in a professional and confidential manner

Qualifications

Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent. (3 years GNM with DOH RN License is acceptable)

Accredited Laser Training Course (NCLC, SCHRM) Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience in Lasers and Dermatology/ Plastic Surgery Clinics. Skills & Competencies Required

Knowledge of peri-operative, beautician, and plastic surgery services: locally, regionally, and internationally
