- Provides comprehensive anddiligent cardio-thoracic surgical care to all patients, includingpre- and post-operative care and such surgical procedures as arewithin incumbent's competence.
- Assumesafter-hours responsibility for the care of cardio-thoracic casesand makes daily rounds for thosehospitalized.
- Provides consultation services tophysicians and other surgeons and other specialists if and whenrequired.
- Orders diagnostic laboratory studiesand X-ray examinations, determining the diagnosis and prescribingapplicable therapy.
- Determines the eligibilityof patients for admission.
- Identifies need fortests or follow-up visits.
- Supports ContinuousQuality Improvement.
- Exercises effectiveinterpersonal skills in dealings with department staff, withassociates and with Management.
- Maintainsconfidentiality regarding patient information and regardingadministrative matters of a confidentialnature.
- Evidences dependability in carrying outthe commitments and obligations of theposition.
- Demonstrates the ability to listen toothers in promoting effectivecommunication.
- Develops thorough understandingof policies and procedures of the hospital and demonstrates respectfor them.
- Performs other duties as assigned bythe Head of the Department.
- Comply with all OSHand infection control policies, standards and procedures andcooperate with hospital management to comply thoserequirements
- Work accordance with thedocumented OSH procedures and instructions, specificresponsibilities
- Be familiar with emergencyand evacuation procedures
- Notifying OSHHazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with thepreparation of risk assessments, incidentreports
- Comply with Waste management proceduresand policies
- Attend applicable OSH/Infectioncontrol training programs, mock drills and awarenessprograms
- Use of appropriate personal protectiveequipment and safety systems
