    Description
    • To perform the professional dutiesof a specialist histopathologic in accordance with the delineationof privileges as recommended by the credentialcommittee.
    • Examines surgical specimens. Alltissues removed at surgery are examined and a written reportrendered. This duty includes consultation when needed with theSurgeon during the course of the surgery, either with, or without,frozen section examination.
    • Examines cytologysmears. All abnormal cytology specimens are examined andreported.
    • Examines and reports bone marrowspecimens.
    • Assists Chief Pathologist withdetails of selection of test procedures and quality controlmeasures and their interpretation.
    • Performingand maintain the quality control procedures required as per thestandards of the JCIA requirements.
    • Analysis,interpretation and reporting of the histopathology specimens,cytopathology specimens and other laboratory tests in accordancewith professional standards and guidelines of the health regulatoryauthorities such as HAAD.
    • Implementation ofLaboratory safety protocols to provide a safe work environment forall the laboratory staff as well as for thepatients.
    • Providing 24 hours services of thelaboratory and blood transfusion facility for emergency patients inthe hospital.
    • Participating in in-house CMEprograms as well as CME programs in other hospitals for ContinuedProfessional Development to maintain the professional standardsrequired for the practice of Pathology and LaboratoryMedicine
    • Maintains confidentiality regardingpatient information and regarding administrative matters of aconfidential nature.
    • Evidences dependability incarrying out the commitments and obligations of theposition.
    • Develops thorough understanding ofpolicies and procedures of the hospital and demonstrates respectfor them.
    • Performs other duties as assigned bythe Head of the Department.
    • Comply with all OSHand infection control policies, standards and procedures andcooperate with hospital management to comply thoserequirements
    • Work accordance with thedocumented OSH procedures and instructions, specificresponsibilities
    • Be familiar with emergency andevacuation procedures
    • Notifying OSH Hazards,incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with thepreparation of risk assessments, incidentreports
    • Comply with Waste management proceduresand policies 3.20 Attend applicable OSH/Infection control trainingprograms, mock drills and awareness programs 3.21 Use ofappropriate personal protective equipment and safetysystems

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Graduationfrom an approved medical school plus one year of internship andthree years of residency; Post graduate degree (MD-Pathology) andInternational Fellowship from the College of American Pathologist(or its equivalent).
    • At least three (3) yearsof experience the management of all types of laboratory test& techniques in all type & ages ofpatients.
    • Excellent command of oral and writtenEnglish. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but notessential.
    • Must be highly skilled in theparticular field of practice, with mature clinical judgment andability to provide professional leadership. He / she must have athorough knowledge of Medical Department policies and procedureswith particular reference to the obligation to maintain theconfidentiality of his work; personality Staff which inspiresconfidence and trust in his patients; and adhere to Bylaws, Rulesand Regulations of the MedicalOrganization.
    • Current licensure in country oforigin and with HAAD license to practice in Abu Dhabi,UAE.
    • Communication, interpersonal skills asapplied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients& families.
