Job Purpose


To provide HSE technical monitoring/coaching/mentoring and assistance to rig management on compliance with applicable ADNOC and international regulations, programs and policies to enhance employee awareness of HSE awareness and to enable them to fulfil their HSE responsibilities.

Key responsibility / Activities / Accountabilities

  • Conduct HSE induction for crew and visitors to the rig/locations depending on the job duties being carried out at that time. Also, responsible for conducting trainings of rig site crew (including service contractors /marine fleet) on HSE aspects of the operations.
  • Maintain environmental and social risk management documentation (grievances/complaints) and records as required under the regulations/ADNOC standards to uphold compliance. Carryout compliance verification of all activities at the rig site in line with ADNOC HSE operational safety standards.
  • Ensure through trainings and inspections that the control measures and recommendations documented as part of HSE Impact Assessment study are implemented by the drilling contractor and service companies.
  • Follow up with contractors for implementation of Rig HSE Case requirements that includes requirements of H2S Zoning, Hazardous Area Classification, HSECES Performance Standards, Exclusion Zones and project specific MOPO matrix etc. throughout the operations.
  • Familiarize the rig crew (including marine fleet) with the requirements set in the bridging document, well control emergency response plan, H2S contingency plan, oil spill contingency plan etc. through trainings and awareness sessions.
  • Conduct inspection of the H2S equipment & BA system to ensure that this essential equipment is in working condition 24/7. Report any defects/issues to H2S Technician and get the issues resolved. Also ensure regular inspection for F& G system, firefighting equipment, lifesaving requirement, hand tools and PPEs etc.
  • Participate and/or lead, as required, Safety and Environment compliance daily/weekly inspections and audits to identify deviations from applicable policies, regulations, and procedures, as well as identifying opportunities for improvement. Review and produce corresponding reports and maintain observation/deviation register.
  • Conduct PTW audits and make recommendations for improvement. Review Risk Assessments, Lifting Plans, Confined Space Rescue Plans and other critical HSE documentation on regular basis to ensure that hazards and operational controls are adequate and suit the risk profile.
  • Conduct Health and Hygiene (including Welfare) inspections at rig accommodation and catering facilities on regular basis.
  • Facilitate implementation of the Emergency Response Plan and ensure drill frequencies defined under the ERP are met and drill records are maintained. Ensure the rig crew is familiar with the response expectations for all emergency tiers [13], fire response, H2S response, evacuation procedures etc.
  • Lead/participate in the incident investigations (as required) to determine the accident root cause and identifying necessary corrective/preventive actions to prevent recurrence. Follow up on the action items until satisfactory closeout and cascade lesson learnt.
  • Provide support as necessary to enhance safe helicopter takeoff and landing on board the rig.
  • Roll out HSE campaigns including but not limited to STOP Cards, Beat the Heat, Ergonomic Drive, Hazard Hunt, etc.
  • Participate in prejob meetings, tool box talks and extend necessary support to Drilling Supervisor on managing HSE domain at rig site.
  • Maintain updated HSE records and KPIs (safety, environment, waste management etc.) and report HSE performance through (daily, weekly, and monthly) reports.
  • Participate in the morning drilling conference call to present HSE updates & discuss issues.
Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Science with 10+ Years of relevant experience in Drilling & Completion Operations.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent in Health & Safety
  • NEBOSH International General Certificate / International Technical Certificate accepted as a minimum if suitable experience in an HSE role.
  • Qualified in Tropical BOSIET training and basic H2S awareness (OPITO) mandatory.
  • Qualified in First Aid and Advance H2S (OPITO/ANSI) preferred.

Reporting:
This position administratively reports to Drilling Supervisor at rig site.


Nature of work environment:
This position is based at the rig site on rotation schedule 28 x 28 days
