    Description
    • Responsible for the overallmanagement and technical operations of the vessels under hisresponsibility. This includes overseeing the daily maintenance andrepair, budgeting, survey scheduling, onboard general assessment ofvessels, inspections and docking whenrequired.
    • Ensure Company owned and managedvessels are operated in a safe, efficient and economical manner andin full compliance with Class and Statutoryregulations.
    • Ensure the assigned vessels arefully operational technically or otherwise managed accordingly tothe management agreement requirements.
    • Tomaintain the classification status of the vessels under his chargeand to ensure that the survey status reports are sent to thevessels on a monthly basis.
    • Support and monitoron-board Planned Preventive Maintenance to ensure cost effectivemanagement and effective implementation of thisfunction.
    • Ensure that Vessels Plannedmaintenance system is being operated and reported in the mannerprescribed in the company's standards andprocedures.
    • Budget responsibility for technicalelements of the assigned vessels.
    • Responsiblefor overseeing the installation and certification of 3rd partyequipment on the vessels, such as Diving, ROV and other temporaryequipment.
    • Liaise with Vessel Masters and ChiefEngineers as required and providing technical advice and assistancewhen necessary.
    • Identify and source fortechnical and operational supplies required for the vessels andensure that the rates are mosteconomical.
    • Co-ordinate and supervise servicerepairs, utilizing approved sub-contractors as required and ensureall such repairs are completed in a timely and satisfactory mannerand within the vessel's set operationalbudget.
    • Prepare accurate and comprehensivevessel dry-dock specifications and to supervise dry-dockings andrepairs to completion as directed. Dry dockings and repairs maytake place at a location remote from normal place ofwork.
    • Liaising with repair yard management,sub-contractors, Class and Administration to ensure all works arecarried out in accordance with agreed specifications and timeschedules.
    • Providing written reports asrequired, detailing in service repairs dry-docking repairs andsurveys, including costs incurred during suchactivities.
    • Ensure all relevant informationregarding a vessel repair / docking is updated in the PMSsystem.
    • Liaise with customers on technical andoperational matters including vesselperformance.
    • Liaise with the Purchasingdepartment to ensure that purchase requisitions are being trackedand expedited in a timely manner. Report to Fleet Manager whendelays have the potential to impact on vessels operationalcapabilities. Ensure minimum spare requirements aremet.
    • Perform monthly review of logs processesand attend to vessel inspections and submitreports.
    • Responsible for the control andupdating of the vessel Technical Library (ship's plansand drawings) as required.
    • Ensure IMCAguidelines and "best industry practices" areadhered to at all times.
    • Oversee and give inputto prepare tender documents including establishingcosts/budgets/programs and be part of subsequent bid/tenderevaluations.
    • Contribute to the appraisal andselection of repair yards and technical serviceproviders.
    • Carry out appraisals of ChiefEngineers on board his vessel at end of theircontract.
