ABOUT THE ROLE


Key accountabilities (Functional Responsibilities)- Assist in the planning and analysis process, including gathering project requirements, assessing resource availability, and analyzing project impacts on ongoing initiatives.


  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure project alignment with organizational goals.
  • Perform 20% of highlevel design tasks under the direction of the Head of Design and Planning.
  • Translate project requirements into highlevel design specifications that guide the development team.
  • Collaborate with the product team to ensure the quality of project stories, verify alignment with expectations, and facilitate effective communication between product and development teams.
  • Document design patterns and best practices that will serve as guidelines for the development process.
  • Maintain a repository of design documentation for future reference.
  • Work closely with the Head of Development Execution and the Head of Infrastructure and Systems to align project plans, share relevant information, and ensure effective collaboration among teams.
Frameworks, boundaries and decision-making authority

The Design and Planning Apprentice will work under the guidance and direction of the Head of Design and Planning.

They will have decision-making authority within the framework of their responsibilities and tasks, seeking approval or escalation for significant decisions as needed.

The role's boundaries include performing 20% of high-level design, assisting in planning and analysis, and collaborating with relevant stakeholders.

Major decisions related to project planning, high-level design choices, and resource allocation will be made in coordination with the Head of Design and Planning.


Requirements:

Education

  • College diploma in a Software, Software Engineering, or Software/Systems Architecture completed within the last three years, or Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering completed within the last three years, or equivalent experience. Demonstrated interest in design, planning, and project management through coursework, internships, or personal projects.
  • Professional qualification
  • Familiarity with design principles, documentation, and design software tools.
  • Basic understanding of software development concepts and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills, with the ability to think critically and propose innovative solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams.
  • Selfmotivated and eager to learn, with a proactive attitude towards professional development and growth.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.

Note:

The Design and Planning Apprentice role is an entry-level position focused on developing skills in design, planning, and project coordination.

The role provides a pathway for career growth into an associate position within 8
