4.0.1 Responsible for reviewing requests formedical equipment and supplies received from all Departments withinthe Medical Organization to see if they are feasible to theoperation and that all spare parts and accessories areincluded.

4.0.2Initiates and responsible to guide the team to select the materialsto be stocked, recommends the initial amount required, estimatesthe annual usage and prepares data for catalog and purchasedescriptions.

4.0.3Approves operating procedures, indoctrinates personnel concerned,co-ordinates functions involving medical and non-medical supplyitems.

4.0.4 Is anactive member of the Infections Control, Safety, andStandardization Committees to support the materials orderingconformance to the infection control and safetystandards.

4.0.5Keeps abreast of new medical machinery and material by readingtrade journals and various vendor's literature on a routinebasis.

4.0.6 Appliesthis knowledge in contacts with user departments to assist them inreaching decisions on equipment requirements ormodifications.

4.0.7Recommends and arranges for disposal of all obsolete Hospitalmaterial.

4.0.8Coordinates all medical supply requisitions through the PurchasingDepartment.

4.0.9Works with line personnel and with appropriate Materials Supplypersonnel to help resolve immediate and short-term materialsacquisitionproblems.

4.0.10Prepares correspondence regarding materials availability, statusand current expediting action to the Central Purchasing under thesupervision of MaterialsManager.

4.0.11Provides work direction to assigned materials personnel asnecessary.

4.0.12Performs managerial functions commensurate to the segment asestablished bymanagement.
