Cardiologist DutiesAnd Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient through questions,examinations, symptom review, and medicaltesting
• Perform exercise tests, diagnosticimage tests, cardiac catheterizations; may perform or recommendprocedures like echocardiograms
• Analysis ofpatient test results
• Set patient goals anddiscuss a treatment plan
• Establish timelines,tasks, and medical needs of the patient
• Developtreatment plans for medications or therapy to help patients reachtheir goal
• Prescribe medications and monitoringpatient intake
• Recommend surgeons or otherfurther treatments
• Consult with surgeons onpatient procedures
• Advise and assist withcardiac surgeries when needed
• Monitor patientprogress post-surgery
• Document patient recordsand progress including symptoms, medications, andtreatments
• Provide patient with tools andmethods for recovery and better quality oflife
• Educate the patient, patient'sfamily, significant others, and relevant parties of patientprogress, treatment, and future goals
• Conductresearch to better serve patients
  

CardiologistRequirements And Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree inbiology, pre-med, physical sciences, or relatedfield
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) Doctor ofMedicine (M.D.) degree; clinical residency, and cardiologyfellowship
• Participation in further medicaleducation and/or professional organization memberships arepreferred
• Strong desire to help people andimprove their daily lives
• Compassionate andsensitive to patients' needs andconcerns
• Able to multitask, prioritize, andmanage time efficiently
• Excellent verbal andwritten communication skills
• Exhibits patienceand understanding
• Great interpersonalrelations, communications, anddemeanor
