The UAE & MENAT Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) is an elevated and expanded function managing all data and analytics related matters for the UAE and MENAT region, consistently and similarly to the other CDAO constructs in the UK, IWPB, CIB/HCIB, and Group Infrastructure as approved by the HSBC Board.

The function is accountable for delivering the refreshed HSBC Data Strategy into UAE & MENAT, enabling business growth, reducing data risk, and supporting regulatory and AI innovation for MENAT entities.

Role Purpose

We are seeking a highly accomplished director to serve as our CDAO for UAE & MENAT, reporting to the UAE COO. This critical leadership role focuses on overseeing all data and analytics matters for UAE & MENAT, supporting Business and COOs in these markets to drive their market-level data agenda, enabling business growth, reducing data risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. You will work with key SME teams at MENAT region and market level to understand stakeholder demands, advocate for the HSBC Data Strategy, act as the SME for data and analytics related matters, mobilize teams for delivery, and cultivate a strong data culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Stakeholder Management and Advocacy

• Establish close relationships with business stakeholders in UAE & MENAT, acting as their trusted focal point for data and analytics matters.
• Establish an effective mechanism to engage business stakeholders in UAE & MENAT, and bring them into a single data strategy story with strong advocacy and storytelling skills.
• Develop a stakeholder map to understand and identify consistent or conflicting expectations, and develop management options for executives to make informed and collective decisions with trade-offs in mind.
• Develop necessary materials and advocate for HSBC Data Strategy, addressing key business stakeholder expectations including delivery roadmap, metrics, cost (investment and recharges), and benefits.

Oversight of Data and Analytics Matters for UAE & MENAT

• Establish an effective mechanism for UAE & MENAT to oversee relevant data and analytics matters, covering key data-related regulatory expectations, business growth opportunities, and AI innovation.
• Maintain a clear business story on how the HSBC Data Strategy will address demand for UAE & MENAT, and be the focal point to triage business demand into use-cases for prioritization.
• Identify collaborative synergies within UAE & MENAT, and across MENAT priority markets, to bring pragmatic value to business teams.
• Oversee key development trends for data, and act as trusted advisory SME for local business and COOs.

Data Risk Management and Regulatory Reporting

• Lead the ongoing assessment and enhancement of the region's data risk map, identifying, mitigating, and monitoring data risks across all MENAT entities.
• Oversee all data control matters, and work with Group and AME teams to address data risk in a risk-based manner with funding prioritization in mind.
• Drive the adoption of self-service reporting models, empowering business users to access and utilize regulatory data efficiently while maintaining strong controls and data integrity.
• Collaborate with Technology and Compliance teams to automate and streamline regulatory reporting processes.

Analytics, AI, and Business Insights

• Lead the development and deployment of advanced analytics, AI, and machine learning solutions to drive business growth and operational efficiency in MENAT markets.
• Identify, prioritize, and support AI use-cases that deliver tangible value, ensuring responsible and ethical AI adoption in line with HSBC's global standards.
• Partner with business lines to identify and deliver high-impact analytics use cases.
• Translate complex data into actionable insights for senior leadership and business stakeholders.

Delivery Governance, Control, and Reporting

• Represent UAE & MENAT for key data and analytics matters and engage the right business and technology stakeholders from delivery governance, control, and reporting perspectives.
• Outline an effective governance mechanism for UAE & MENAT, leveraging existing MENAT level governance cadence (e.g., MENAT Data Executive Council, MENAT OpCo).
• Maintain a clear view of how the global HSBC Data Strategy investment and respective regional budget will land into UAE & MENAT, and contribute to reporting materials as required by MENAT COO and MENAT CDAO.

Team Leadership and Resource Management

• Build and lead a high-performing data and analytics team across UAE & MENAT, nurturing local talent and fostering diversity.
• Provide direct leadership, mentorship, and governance to a team of senior program and project managers, instilling a culture of execution excellence and continuous improvement.
• Develop an effective relationship with key vendors and mobilize resource augmentation for delivery.
• Cultivate the right HSBC leadership culture, and develop effective ways of working for the team.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Strong background in data governance. Proven track record to govern data and analytics matters on behalf of senior executives to articulate, manage, and escalate matters in a timely and effective manner with minimal supervision and guidance.
• Exposure to MENAT markets with strong stakeholder relationships with COOs is a big plus.
• Demonstrated knowledge of data trends in MENAT, in HSBC business context.
• Solid knowledge of data management practices, with active industry knowledge across key data domains such as data risk, data commercialization, data platforms, and data management trends.
• Strong understanding of HSBC's Value Stream construct and its evolving changes, with relevant expertise to manage investment discussions, delivery roadmap, and metrics.
• Strong literacy and understanding of the refreshed HSBC Data Strategy and its Execution Roadmap, across key technology components (Reference Data, Data Fabric, Control Automation), and business outcomes.
• Outstanding leadership abilities, including team building, mentoring, and driving organizational change.
• Graduation degree is a MUST to secure a UAE Visa and Work Permit.
• Under the New Labour Law, only fixed term contracts shall be available to all employees of HSBC UAE (except DIFC and ADGM employees) – hence in line with the term of work permit, a 4 years' contract would be issued.
