Description

How you can make your mark:

You can make your mark as certificate coordinator by keeping the certificates of our ships up-to-date and thereby preventing unnecessary delay(s) of those ships.

In this way you also make a major contribution when it comes to safety on board ships.

Assisting the Fleet Management Teams in the processes of requesting, executing and, if necessary, postponing surveys is an important activity.

Boskalis has a large number of its ships sailing under the Cyprus Cypriot flag and must, in accordance with the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, ensure compliance with laws relating to the environment, safety and security.

There is also a challenge to digitize data in an advanced software system. This management system ensures that certificates regarding class, equipment, safety and flag states are updated and managed on time. In this role you ensure that all certificates, reports, etc. belonging to the fleet remain up-to-date.

Your responsibilities as a certificate coordinator

  • Keeping all certificates, reports, etc., functioning for the fleet, uptodate.
  • Be responsible for complying with the legal and regulatory certificates, laws, and reports related to the environment, safety and security on board seagoing and inland vessels. In possible cases, the registration of ships with flag states or the cancellation of similar registrations.
  • Digitizing data in an advanced software system.
  • You are the first aspect for our captains, fleet engineers, fleet managers. You answer questions about the certification process.
  • You prepare reports to classification societies and governments or flag states on sustainability.
  • You carry out the required file checks for the issue of certificates. You carry out certification audits and random checks to check for correct certification.
  • You maintain contacts with the class offices, the flag states and other causes related to certification.

Your qualities and experience
You can move ahead as a certificate coordinator if you have:

  • You are aware of maritime laws and regulations.
  • You have knowledge of the class regulations and the inspection and certification regime.
  • Knowledge of ship registrations with flag states is an advantage.
  • You have some affinity with legal matters in shipping.
  • You also function as a sparring partner for captains, members of the Fleet Management Teams and shore staff on pilot projects.
