## Senior Shipping Lawyer

We are looking for a Senior Shipping Lawyer for our well-established practice here in the UAE. This role will include preparing legal opinions, researching the law, supporting other members of the department and client care. The role reports directly into the Partner heading the department.

The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following qualifications and experience:

- Degree in law, preferably masters, from a reputed university;
- Valid practice certificate from his/her respective home jurisdiction;
- A minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably up to 10 years of experiences as a Shipping / Maritime Lawyer;
- Outstanding communication skills, specifically in English;
- Preferably legal experience in the United Arab Emirates;
- Preferably sea-going experience, combining technical knowledge with legal expertise.

### Responsibilities of a Senior Shipping Lawyer

As a Senior Shipping Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing a wide range of legal advice and services relating to the shipping industry. Your primary duties will include:

- Preparing legal opinions and researching the law as requested by the Partner heading the department;
- Supporting other members of the department in their work;
- Representing clients in court or other legal proceedings;
- Drafting and negotiating contracts, lease agreements, and other documents related to the shipping industry;
- Advising clients on various legal matters;
- Liaising with external legal and regulatory bodies;
- Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of the relevant laws and regulations;
- Developing and implementing strategies for resolving legal disputes;
- Keeping up to date with developments in the shipping industry;
- Writing articles and reports on legal matters for publication in legal journals;
- Keeping client files up to date and ensuring that all related documents are stored appropriately.
