A Day Auditor maintains the professional financial standards of the hotel by managing end-of-day reports, ensuring accuracy, and reporting anomalies.


What will I be doing?


As Day Auditor, you will maintain the professional financial standards of the hotel by managing end-of-day reports, ensuring accuracy, and reporting anomalies.

A Day Auditor must perform the following tasks to the highest standards:


Ensure that all sales records of every department are received at the Front Office at the end of the day.

Check postings of room charges on the guest folios. Post all remaining charges unposted for the day. Ensure that all department charges and credits for the day are posted correctly and agree with the trail. Compare the total room revenue with the Daily House Report. Ensure that Totals of Room Revenue agree with the system readings.

Ensure that room rates charged are correct and all discounts allowed are approved by a responsible officer and report to Finance Manager of any unauthorized discounts.

Check Night Auditor's Log -Books and ensure that instructions are followed. Prepare Guest Ledger high balance report and forward daily to Director of Finance. Report missing folios checks and other documents to the Asst. Finance Manager. All Folios transferred are supported by checks signed by guests such as reservation letter from the companies or vouchers. Check Guest Ledger balances with the trial and ensure that they are tallied. Audit "checked out" folios to prove charges and credits check these accounts for remaining balances. Bring to the attention of Asst. Finance Manager daily if any balances unsettled and lying in credit.

Check all "paid out" vouchers to see whether they are authorized by a responsible officer, and ensure that instructions regarding paid outs are followed.

Prepare Daily Report.

While preparing daily report ensure the following:

  • Food & Beverage totals and number of covers are correct -Calculation of average covers is correct
  • Ensure 10% taxes charged are exactly in line with the revenue recorded.
  • Control Sum in "D" report is zero. Detail breakdown of other income is given on the Daily Report.
To update the statistic, income and general cashier journals.

To check the prices, calculations for manual summaries from other operating departments Market Mix of Room occupancy is correctly made.


  • Compare Telephone Summary sheets and Telephone Bills along with the computer printouts and TMS report
  • Prepare Daily Report of complimentary rooms
  • Prepare Summary for rebates.
  • Ensure that all the PM folios closed daily basis.
  • Check all credit card charges, micros / Fidelio to that of POS report.
  • Ensure that instructions regarding staff bills are followed.
  • Day Audit shall include all above functions but not limited to the tasks listed above.
  • Ensures that inventory of Guest safety deposit lockers are done at least once a week.
  • Ensures that vacant room checks are done during the day at least once in a week.
  • Verification of Paidout and deposit refunds vouchers and its approval.
  • To verify accuracy of TMS telephone traffic report and interface functions.
  • Spotchecks on guest registration cards.
  • Safe boxes inventory staff and guests.


In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon theparticular requirements of the company.

  • Previous experience of working in a hotel Finance Department
  • Previous experience working in Front Office or hotel outlets
