Responsibilities

• Cleans building floors by sweeping,mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them. Follows procedures for theuse of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to preventdamage to floors and fixtures.
• Sometimes usingladders, dusts and washes furniture, walls, machines, andequipment; cleans ceilings and dusts and polishes light fixtures.Washes and replaces blinds
• Moves cabinets,boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas, eithermanually or by using hand trucks
• May removestains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors usingchemicals and cleaning solutions. May also sweep walks, rakeleaves, cut grass, or perform other incidental seasonaltasks
• Mixes water and detergents or acids incontainers to prepare cleaning solutions according tospecifications
• Strips, seals, finishes, andpolishes floors
• Cleans and vacuums carpetedareas, including application of spot cleaningtreatment
• Gathers and emptiestrash
• Wipes and cleans tabletops, chairs, andequipment in food areas
• Cleans and polishesfurniture and fixtures
• Services, cleans, andsupplies restrooms
• Periodically cleans overheadvents, dusts blinds, and polishes woodfurniture
• Cleans interior partition glass,windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or othercleaners, sponges, and squeegees
• Must keepjanitor's closet neat and orderly and maintain equipmentin good working order
• Monitors buildingsecurity and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors afteroperating hours and possibly checking electrical appliance use toensure that hazards are not created
• Drivesvehicles (if required) to perform or travel to cleaning work,including vans, industrial trucks, or industrial vacuumcleaners
• May be expected to make basicrepairs
• Miscellaneous duties asassigned

• Must be 18 years of age orolder
