Scope (A brief statement of overall responsibilities)

The Planning Engineer is providing all necessary assistance to the construction team with respect to all planning and scheduling issues and progress of the all civil works.

The incumbent will be responsible for the review and approval of the submitted work program by the contractor and he will monitor the work progress during the construction and reports to the Asset manager.

He needs to prepare all reports related to the projects for authority submission and preparation of manpower and Equipment requirements.

Responsible for:
(The main job activities)

Develop project plans and schedules that are realistic and achievable for south yard project.
Prepare the 3 weeks and 90 days look ahead plan for the site team to do the works regularly.
Identify and analyze potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate them.
Monitor project progress and identify any delays or deviations from the plan.
Coordinate with various internal and external suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
Provide regular status reports to all managers to keep them informed of project progress.
To develop and monitor resource management (labour/Plant)
Maintain a strong understanding of project scope, objectives, and requirements.
Recommend process improvements to enhance project delivery and efficiency.
Collaborate with team members to ensure project tasks are completed on time and within budget.
Monitor the work progress, compare to the accepted program of work and report to the Manager.
Coordinate with the site Engineers of the Contractor on all scheduling issues and progress.
Prepare the daily, weekly, monthly reports about the status of construction progress and submit to the authority requirements.
Evaluate, and forecast project progress and performance against the established accepted / amended schedule with critical milestones.

Preferred Competencies:

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction or related field and 10 years demonstrable experience in all aspects of civil construction on major infrastructure projects preferably in the underground utility services.
Project management experience in planning, scheduling, and cost engineering, including at least five (5) years using Primavera Project Management, Primavera contract Management (Expedition) and evidenced familiarity and use over the past 12 months using the latest Primavera published edition P
Completed at least one project in same role that is comparable in complexity and size to the projects being tendered.
Familiarity with the techniques for schedule impact analysis.
Must have a sound knowledge about contractual relationships.
Must be fluent in English both written and spoken with an excellent capability in written technical skills, good report writing, analytical and computer skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
