Aldar Education is seeking a
Classroom Assistant for Al Ain British Academy in Al Ain commencing
August 2024 .


Al Ain Academy opened in September 2011 providing high quality education in the heritage 'Garden City' of the United Arab Emirates.

The children are taught the English National Curriculum - tailored to be meaningful to children living in Al Ain.

Facilities at the school are excellent and include a large astro-turf field, two swimming pools, well-stocked library, a large multi-purpose sports hall, an auditorium and outdoor play areas.

Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the SENCO/Class Teachers/Key Stage Leaders.

Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications:
High School Certificate.

Minimum Experience:
Two years' experience in a similar role (desirable).


Job Specific Knowledge & Skills:


  • English language skills or language applied in the school curriculum. Arabic language proficiency mandatory.

Key duties include:


  • Provide support for individual pupils / groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in a range of activities during the school day and to provide for their social, emotional, and physical wellbeing.
  • Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education programmes for individual pupils / groups of pupils and help monitor their progress.
  • Support pupils with additional support needs e.g. emotional and behavioural difficulties and help to develop their social skills.
  • Assist class teachers with maintaining pupil records, attendance etc.
  • Prepare and present displays of pupils' work.
  • Support class teachers in photocopying, laminating, scanning and other tasks in order to support teaching.
  • Support the aims of the school; comply with the requirements of health and safety, other relevant legislation, and school policies.
  • Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance.
  • Attend team and staff meetings as required.
  • Prepare materials and resources as required to facilitate effective learning.
  • To help promote independent learning and build pupils' motivation and self esteem.
  • Work with other professional's e.g. speech therapists, occupational therapists etc. as necessary.
  • Giving group instruction as prescribed by the teacher/providing individual instruction.
  • Demonstrating various instructional activities to aid in learning.
  • Monitoring work assigned by teacher checking and correcting pupils' work while in progress.
  • Assisting class teacher in monitoring and keeping pupils on task.
  • Praising and reinforcing achievements of pupils/reporting pupil progress to teacher.
  • Reorganising study materials at the end of the day.
  • Supervising pupils in the classrooms and other locations within the school.
  • Disciplining misbehaviour in line with the whole school policy.
  • Undertake other duties from time to time within reasonable remit of the role.
