    Job Summary

    The Department of Biotechnology in the School of Arts and Sciences at the American University of Ras al Khaimah (AURAK) seeks to hire a full-time lab technician staff member starting Fall 2024 (mid-August 2024). Candidates for this position must hold a B.S. in Chemistry / Biotechnology or other related discipline. Prior successful laboratory experience at the university level in performing laboratory experiments and maintaining equipment, in addition to other laboratory duties are expected.

    Primary Responsibilities Include

    • Performing laboratory experiments in compliance with established procedures
    • Identifying and troubleshooting equipment issues.
    • Maintaining laboratory equipment and tools in clean, safe and good conditions.
    • Following preventive maintenance procedures and notify maintenance personnel on any equipment repairs and malfunctions.
    • Generating routine reports on laboratory experiments.
    • Conducting laboratory tests according to equipment specifications and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Ordering and stocking laboratory supplies and instruments.
    • Working with other Technicians to complete laboratory tasks within assigned timelines.
    • Developing new laboratory procedures or enhancements to improve test quality and productivity.
    • Following proper waste disposal and recycling methodologies.

    Required Qualifications And Skills

    • A Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology, or any other related discipline, from an accredited institution of higher education.
    • Effective oral and written English communication skills.
    • Experience in working effectively with a diverse student population.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines.
    • Experience with professional accreditation requirements.
