Full job description

Creating Technical Drawings:
Utilizing advanced CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software, the draftsman is responsible for creating detailed drawings of steel structures. These drawings include layouts, sections, elevations, and detailed components.


Interpreting Engineering Designs:
Translating the concepts and designs of engineers into precise technical drawings and plans. This requires understanding complex structural design principles and the properties of steel.


Specifications and Documentation:

Ensuring all designs meet the required specifications, including dimensions, materials (types and grades of steel), welding, and fabrication details.


Collaboration with Engineering Teams:
Working closely with structural engineers, architects, and construction teams to understand design intent and requirements. This collaboration is essential for modifying and finalizing structural designs.


Revising and Updating Drawings:

As projects evolve, the draftsman must update and revise drawings to reflect design changes, often in response to site conditions, engineering decisions, or client requests.


Compliance with Standards and Regulations:
Ensuring that all drawings and designs comply with relevant building codes, safety standards, and industry regulations. This includes knowledge of local and international standards for steel construction.


Material Lists and Cost Estimations:

Preparing material lists and helping in cost estimation for the required steel and other materials, based on the drawings.


Technical Proficiency:

Staying up-to-date with the latest CAD technology, understanding structural analysis software, and continuously learning about advancements in steel structure engineering.


Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking:
Ability to troubleshoot issues that arise during the design process, offering practical solutions to structural design challenges.


Project Documentation:
Maintaining accurate records and documentation throughout the design process for reference and reporting purposes.
