Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented
Land Surveyor to join our team In this role you will get to to work in the field performing various surveying activities.


What You'll Be Doing:


  • The Land Surveyor plans, organizes, and directs work in surveying earth's surface to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, mapmaking, land division, titles, or other purposes:
  • Researches previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys. Develops new data from photo-gram metric records. Determines methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control.
  • Locate in the field: In the field, locate rightsofway, topographic features, property lines, corners and boundaries. Coordinate Region control surveys.
  • Document management system: Search for, analyze, and arrange to obtain historical survey records and maps and develop methodologies to incorporate these records into a document management system.
  • Permit for survey corner destruction: Approve and issue permits for the temporary removal or destruction of survey corners.
  • Field survey maps: Draft, check, file and distribute maps prepared that depict the results of the field surveys.
  • Coordinate critical projects: Coordinate unusually critical or complex projects, which usually involve the use of electronic measuring instruments and a large party.
  • Compute & plat survey data: Participate in computation and platting of survey data.
  • Survey contracts: Develop procedures and specifications for statewide survey contracts and agreements; administer and approve contract surveys.
  • Approve plats & sites: Approve all rightofway and electronic communication sites submitted to or created by the department for correct technical data and proper form

What Required Skills You'll Bring:


  • Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in engineering or constructionrelated field, or equivalent constructionrelated work experience, as well as 5+ years of experience in cartography, GIS, geography, land survey, remote sensing, photogrammetry, surveying
  • Knowledge of surveying procedures and instruments, engineering formulas.
  • Knowledge of drafting, arithmetic, geometry, calculus and engineering formulas, CADD drawings and maps.
  • Knowledge of CADD drawings and various maps, maps and drawings draft maps and detailed working drawings, design and drawings prepare and review engineering designs and drawings
  • E xperience in the construction of roads ,infrastructure and landscaping projects at domestic and/or foreign locations is preferredRequires a comprehensive knowledge of engineering and constructionrelated processes, as well as industry practices
  • Also requires excellent written and oral communication skills, a familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering and construction, and the proven ability for performing in a lead capacity on a project.
  • Keeps accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed. Coordinates findings with work of engineering and architectural personnel, clients, and others concerned with project
