Responsibilities:
Offer advice and safe, effective midwifery care that respects the cultural and social needs of each woman and her family during the antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum period.
Demonstrate competency in the skills needed to assist and support the woman before, during and after childbirth.
Safely administer medication according to the hospital policy during pregnancy, birth and lactation.
Arrange and provide parenting and health education;
Offering support and advice following events such as miscarriage, termination, stillbirth, neonatal abnormality and neonatal death;
Give support and advice on the daily care of the baby, including breastfeeding, bathing and making up feeds;
Liaise with agencies and other health and social care professionals to ensure continuity of care.
