Haris Saleem

I am Haris Saleem, an Environmental Civil Engineering graduate with a strong passion for sustainable design and structural engineering. My academic journey at Glasgow Caledonian University has equipped me with a solid foundation in civil engineering principles, including advanced structural engineering, geotechnical design, and water resource management. My practical experience spans diverse roles in engineering projects, such as the successful construction of the Jacobs Footbridge, where I demonstrated leadership, precision, and innovation. I am driven by a commitment to creating sustainable and resilient infrastructures, particularly in challenging environments like the UAE. Outside of my professional interests, I am dedicated to maintaining a healthy lifestyle through regular gym sessions and hiking, which mirror my resilience and determination in both personal and professional pursuits. Additionally, my skills in Arabic and Urdu enhance my ability to work effectively in diverse, multicultural teams, contributing to a more interconnected global engineering community.

Throughout my career, I have accumulated diverse hands-on experience in civil engineering and related fields. Notably, I played a key role in the Jacobs Footbridge project, where I led a team to complete the construction of a 12m footbridge ahead of schedule, showcasing my leadership, project management, and technical skills. My responsibilities included precise site layout, rebar cage assembly, concrete work, and implementing innovative safety designs, all of which were recognized for their adherence to quality and safety standards. Additionally, my work as a mechanic at Mercedes and A. Gray Motors further honed my problem-solving abilities and technical proficiency, enabling me to approach engineering challenges with a practical, detail-oriented mindset. My broad range of experience, from engineering projects to customer-facing roles, has developed my adaptability, resilience, and commitment to excellence in every task I undertake.

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Civil Engineering from Glasgow Caledonian University, where I developed a strong foundation in key civil engineering disciplines. My coursework included advanced structural engineering, geotechnical design, and water resource management, all of which have equipped me with the technical knowledge and analytical skills necessary for a successful career in civil engineering. My academic journey culminated in a dissertation focused on the integration of renewable energy with desalination in the UAE, reflecting my passion for sustainable engineering solutions. In addition to my degree, I have earned various certifications in structural mechanics, fluid mechanics, and construction materials, further solidifying my expertise in the field. My education has not only provided me with the theoretical knowledge required for engineering but also instilled in me a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
