About Joyce Bongalos:
Librarian with eight years of experience supporting primary and secondary students, bringing strong experience in literacy development, guided reading programmes, and current experience in ADEK-aligned library operations. Proven ability to manage Learning Resource Centres, deliver information and media literacy instruction, lead reading programmes, and develop library collections aligned with curriculum and accreditation standards. Experienced in digital resources and collaborative teaching support.
Experience
I am an experienced school librarian currently working at Global English School, Al Ain, where I deliver guided reading programmes and library lessons that support literacy, research skills, and independent learning, while collaborating with teachers and managing curriculum-aligned collections. Previously, as Head Librarian at St. Scholastica’s Academy of Marikina, I led the full operation of the Learning Resource Centre, implemented literacy initiatives, managed accreditation processes, and oversaw collection development. I am passionate about literacy, information and media literacy, and student wellbeing, with a strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusivity, and creating supportive learning environments.
Education
I hold a Bachelor of Library and Information Science from the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines (2014–2017), and I am currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Library and Information Science at the same institution.
