Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fiber Optic Technician to install, maintain, test, and repair fiber optic cables and related equipment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high-quality network performance and reliable connectivity for residential, commercial, or industrial clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, splice, and test fiber optic cables (single-mode and multi-mode).
- Perform OTDR and power meter testing to ensure signal quality and integrity.
- Troubleshoot and repair fiber optic systems and connectivity issues.
- Read and interpret blueprints, network diagrams, and schematics.
- Install cable pathways, including conduits, trays, and racks.
- Maintain accurate documentation of installations, splicing, and testing results.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures.
- Work in various environments, including indoor, outdoor, underground, and aerial settings.
- Collaborate with network engineers, project managers, and other technicians.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in fiber optic installation and splicing.
- Knowledge of fiber optic color codes and industry standards.
- Experience using fusion splicers, OTDR, and power meters.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification such as CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician) or equivalent.
- Experience with structured cabling systems.
- Knowledge of telecommunications and networking fundamentals.
- OSHA safety certification.
Skills & Competencies
- Technical proficiency with fiber optic tools and equipment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Physical stamina and manual dexterity.
Work Conditions
- May require travel to job sites.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- On-call or overtime work may be required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: AED2, AED4,000.00 per month
