    Description
    • Appraise and contribute to thedevelopment of strategic plans and alignment with risk appetite ofUAE (including DIFC).
    • Inform the development ofbusiness plans with the provision of cost and impairment forecastsand a balanced judgment on the external environment within thecountry.
    • Support line manager in aligningstrategy of the risk function with business strategy and riskappetite.
    • Communicate the strategic intent andcollective agenda for the Function.
    • Maintainand develop the Function's risk capabilities, and skills tomeet ongoing needs and plans.
    • Support linemanager to supervise all processes where a member of the riskfunction is the identified first line processowner.
    • Continuously improve the operationalefficiencies and effectiveness of risk managementprocesses.
    • Lead through example and help buildthe appropriate culture and values within risk and across the widerorganization.
    • Support line manager to assessperiodically the risk profile for the country and maintainalignment with risk appetite by rebalancing of risks or controlsthat may be required in response to internal and externalfactors.
    • Ensure that material risk exposuresand related issues are reported to the responsible governancecommittees and to Group and business-level committees asappropriate.
    • Provide analytic support to theRisk teams and encourage data driven decision in BAU riskmanagement and improve the knowledge on financialmodels
    • Ensure that models, data and otheranalytic processes are fit for purposes not only for regulatoryestimates but also for daily business usage, underwritingdecisions, risk appetite decisions and strategydesign
    • Carry out stress tests and scenarioprograms, review the results and assess their implications. Ensurethat effective management response plans are in place to respond toextreme but plausible scenarios.
    • Maintain agood understanding of the requirements of key external stakeholdersin respect of risk management and ensure these are well understoodinternally and reflected in internalprocedures
    • Support line manager in maintainingdelegated authorities in line with internal policies and ensurethat delegations are in line with individualcapabilities.
    • Ensure country risk committeesmeet on a regular basis to review risk issues in compliance withgovernance requirements
    • Co-ordination to ensureefficient running of key Risk meetings, preparation of qualitypacks (CRC joint CNFRC), completion of minutes where necessary andtracking on closure of deliverables
    • Contributein the bank's agenda of reviewing all new regulatoryguidelines
    • Lead the Regulatory inspection incountry and ensure timely and accurate delivery of information tothe regulator
    • Ensure compliance with regulatoryobligations across Credit, Traded, Reputational, Model, Treasury,Operational and Country Risk
    • Oversight of RiskGovernance activities within thefunction
    • Ensure various risk teams fulfil theirresponsibility as risk type framework owners on specific laws andregulations assigned
    • Secretary of Country RiskCommittee (UAE, DIFC, ADGM and authorisedsub-committees)
    • Preparation of Risk papers(Risk updates to Country/ Region/ Group asappropriate)
    • Preparation and review ofPrudential pack, input to risk governance, country risk andreputational risk areas for stress testing and financialstatements.
    • Support ad-hoc projects asrequired
    • Conduct ERMF self-assessment for allRisk types
    • Conduct Effectiveness reviews ofvarious Risk committees
    • Display exemplaryconduct and live by the Group's Values and Code ofConduct.
    • Take personal responsibility forembedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory andbusiness conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includesunderstanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit,all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code ofConduct.
    • Lead the [Risk team] to achieve theoutcomes set out in the Bank's Conduct Principles: [FairOutcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial CrimeCompliance; The Right Environment.]*
    • Effectively and collaboratively identify,escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliancematters.
    • Support the risk function in handlingof CB UAE, DFSA, FSRA and External Audit questions and examinationas appropriate
    • Consolidating the communicationby the Risk Function with the variousregulators
    • Dissemination of laws andregulations assigned to the Risk Function to respectiveparties
    • Coordination of any regulatory exercisewhich impacts all Risk Functions of theBank
    • ICAAP Risk Coordination andSubmission
    • IFRS9 and ECL Coordinator forRisk
    • Maintenance of Risk Regulatory ObligationRegister
    • Regulatory returns submission reviewprocess
    • Participate and support Regulatorythematic onsite reviews for Riskfunction
