Description

Responsibilities:

Preparingand administering radiopharmaceuticals orally or by injection orinhalation.
Explaining the imaging procedure topatients, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort whileplacing them in the appropriate position forscanning.
Operating imaging equipment, such asPET and SPECT scans.
Processing images on thebrain, thyroid, bone, heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver on thecomputer.
Monitoring patients for unusualreactions to radioactive drugs.
Keepingdetailed records of the amount and type of radiopharmaceutical usedand of the procedure.
Producingcomputer-generated or film images for interpretation by thephysicians.
Following safety procedures toprotect staff and patients from unnecessary radiationexposure.
Maintaining and examining medicalmachines and imaging equipment.
Maintainingcurrent knowledge of the frequent advances, innovations, anddevelopments in the field.
