    OphthalmologistDuties And Responsibilities

    • Providing routine care such as visiontesting and prescribing glasses and contactlenses
    • Performing corrective surgeries, such asrepairing injuries and corneas, and removingcataracts
    • Performing advanced surgicalprocedures, such as keyhole or lasersurgery
    • Diagnosing and treating eye diseasesand injuries
    • Managing emergency eye clinics,outpatient clinics, or other specialist eyeclinics
    • Treating medical disorders that affectthe vision through a holistic approach
    • Usingtherapeutic procedures and performingbiopsies

    Requirements

    Ophthalmologistrequirements and qualifications

    • A medical degree inophthalmology
    • Successful completion of aninternship and residency in ophthalmology
    • Astate license to practice ophthalmology
    • Expertworking knowledge of the diseases, functions, and anatomy of theeye
    • Strong physics and math skills, andexcellent medical knowledge
    • Good administrativeand managerial skills
    • Good hand-eyecoordination
    • Strong organizational,communication, problem-solving, and decision-makingskills
