• Ensures Performs Supervises anddirects the day-to-day activities of the Pediatric Ophthalmologyservice.
• Ensures that Ophthalmological carerendered meets Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitalstandards.
• Participates in the planning anddevelopment of professional standards.
• Monitorswithin established guidelines the quality of care provided.Initiates and participates in review/study of difficult and specialcases.
• Monitors the eye care rendered on adaily basis to ensure that Joint Commission on Accreditation ofHospital standards are met.
• Keeps informed asto current developments in the field of Pediatricophthalmology.
• Coordinates and participates inweekly rounds and peer reviews.
• Coordinateswith the Medical Director in planning programs, integrating thecurative and preventive aspects of total patientcare.
• Participates in the implementation ofapproved curative/preventive programs as they relate to PediatricOphthalmology.
• Oversees and monitors andparticipates in QA programs as requested by theHOD.
• Prepares and submits to the HOD forapproval the daily work schedule,weekend
• Schedules, ER on-call schedule afterworking hours, personal leaves and expat.Vacation.
• Recommends to the HOD Training and/ordevelopment programs to be provided for theStaff.
• Participates in the development andmaintenance of professional quality standards andmakes
• Recommendations to the HOD forimprovement of such standards.
• Orients newstaff when requested to do so.
• Plans andmaintains daily work schedules necessary for required performanceof all Department functions, including leaves of absence,vacations, holiday and weekend schedules, and emergency on-callschedules after working hours.
• Communicatesregularly with Medical Director and other members of theservice.
• Supervises correct and efficient useof supplies and equipment provided to cut down on expenditure andeliminate waste.
• Utilizes and monitors toensure that unit personnel use supporting services (nursing,operation Support, pathology, radiology etc.) in a timely,efficient and cost-effective manner.
• Assists inthe development of improved methods and job simplification ofexisting procedures, Policies andpractices.
• Submits direct charge order requeststo the Head of the Department for signatureapproval.
• Takes an active role in teachingactivities provided for nursing and ancillarystaff.
• Monitors clinical and other establishedindicators to ensure ongoing qualityassurance.
• Strictly observesorganization's medical regulations and policiesespecially those related to infection control, patient safety,patient assessment and patient care.
• Ensuresthat all ophthalmologists maintain a professional demeanor at alltimes.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduationfrom an approved medical school plusinternship.
• Three years residency in PediatricOphthalmology culminating in procuring a Post-GraduateMaster's degree and/or equivalent Fellowships approved byPQR, UAE.
• Five or more year'sexclusive practice of ophthalmology sincecertification.
• Must have DHA/ MOH License topractice.
• English is required to preparedocumentation and it is used as the common language to communicatewith different nationalities. Basic knowledge of medical Arabicdesirable.
• Must have a thorough knowledge ofmedical ethics.
