My journey - How I got to where I am professionally
Hello world.
Today I was working on my LinkedIn profile and I felt so proud of my career. I am so proud of everything that I achieved, that I wanted to share a little bit more about me.
I started my professional life as a Receptionist. It was a perfect start because I always loved to communicate and meet new people.
I was doing what I liked and to my surprise, I was promoted 3 months later and got another promotion 3 months later, again.
One day I received a job offer, it was my first transition from an administrative area to IT.
Everything was new, but I am a quick learner.
I worked as a Support Analyst for over 10 years. I grew as a person and as a professional. I developed a lot of hard and soft skills such as knowledge in infrastructure, how to use several systems, Ms Office, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, empathy, and more, that allowed me to achieve some personal goals, such as pay the university with my own salary, do an exchange program, buy my first car and more.
Then, I did my second career transition, from Support/Help Desk to project management. What a challenge!
I went back to the books and the classroom to learn about the area and methodologies and I fell in love with project management.
I have been working with project management for over 10 years and every day I enjoy it more. Everyday I improve and develop my communication, project planning, manage schedule, time, quality, risks, teams and budget, active listening and how to build and maintain strong relationships.
Don’t get me wrong. It was not easy. I have strived every day since my first job to give my best. I worked hard during days, nights, weekends, even Christmas and News Eve nights. I studied as much as I could and put into practice what I’ve learned. Sometimes I needed to get back to the drawing board. I made some mistakes but I learned from all of them.
I have taken risks, even when I was afraid or when I wasn’t believing in myself enough, I tried anyway.
Nowadays, I'm used to dealing with different cultures, and I keep risking myself, I keep pushing myself to do my best and even though I am scared, I don’t give up.
I am so proud of what I achieved!
How about you? Are you also proud of your achievements? What did you do to get where you are?
