Summary and Relevant Experiences:

More than 14 years of experience in scheme development/supervision/review/coordinate for Control and Protection (C&P), Cabling and Auxiliary power system of HVDC, FACTS (SVC, STATCOM & FSC etc.), 400/220/132/33/11 kV AIS and GIS Substation.

I started my professional carrier with Siemens India limited in July-2007. I have been delegated (Home and Host based) to Siemens AG, Erlangen Germany for a period of almost 3 years on various HVDC and FACTS projects. I have worked as lead C&P hardware engineer for 3 nos. of SVC projects for Power Grid corporation of India Limited. We have developed, manufactured and tested C&P cubicles for the first time in India for SVC Projects.

Main responsibility with Siemens includes developing and supervising and co-ordination for C&P scheme for controls (Station and Pole), Filter protections (AC & DC), Fault Recorders, Communication, AC Interface (Transformer, Valve Hall, SER, Station etc.), DC Interface, AC Protection (Filter, Transformer, Bus Bar, Line etc.) for HVDC and FACTS substation. Also handled successfully for Auxiliary Power (LVAC and DC system), Sizing calculation for CT/VT, Auxiliary Transformer, DG set, battery and charger etc., Cable (Control and Auxiliary Power) sizing and scheduling.

Currently I am working with Dubai Electricity and water Authority (DEWA). I have started my carrier with DEWA in October-2015 as a protection engineer for 400 and 132kV substation. I worked as a protection team lead engineer for group of 132/11kV GIS substation manufactured by SNC-Lavalin Group in Dubai, UAE.

 Main responsibilities in DEWA includes preparing and reviewing of standard design documents, updating specification, preparing SAT/FAT procedures, Method of statements, test/inspection report. Reviewing and approval of the Protection, Fault Recorder, Metering and DC system documents for assign 400kV and 132kV projects. Co-ordination and resolving the issue/queries from manufactures, contractor, consultant and testing and commissioning teams. Reviewing tender documents and providing necessary standard documents at the time of tender. Co-coordinating and monitoring projects progress, risk and opportunities with project management team and department lead. Sharing project feedback and lesson learned among team member. Inspecting protection panels, Fault Recorder and DC system etc. Preparing, reviewing and site verification for MOS for all maintenance related activities for Protection, Fault Recorder, LVAC and LVDC system.

Job Responsibility in Siemens:

Supporting and coordinating of overall control and protection with project colleagues, customer, Vendors and Site personal for HVDC, SVC, FSC, AIS and GIS Projects.

• Technical discussion and clarification with the customer for overall control and Protection of SVC/FSC and HVDC Substation.
• Making Specification for HVDC/SVC/FSC Control and Protection component as per Customer specification.
• Making control and protection logics, schematics and concept.
• Preparing Auxiliary power such as AC & DC Distribution board, Aux. Transformer DG sets etc.
• Preparing drawing and review vendor drawing for Bay Protection, Busbar Protection, Transformer Protection, Filter Protection, Line protection of 400/220/132/33 kV Substation. 
• Preparing Signal list as per customer specification and control & protection requirement. 
• HVDC control & protection cubicle general arrangement drawing, bill of quantity, terminal detail & protection interface such as Control Cubicle, Communication cubicle, Fault Recorder cubicle, Filter Protection, Measuring System, AC/DC Interface cubicle, Protection Interface cubicle etc. 
• SVC control & protection cubicle general arrangement drawing, bill of quantity, terminal detail & protection interface such as Control Cubicle, Communication cubicle, Fault Recorder cubicle, Measuring System, AC/DC Interface cubicle. 
• Parameterization and control logics using DIGSI software for relay and Bay Control Units.
• Parameterization for Differential, Overcurrent, Overvoltage, Distance, Capacitor Unbalance etc. and Coordination with Main 1 and Main 2 or Main with Back up Protection based on same Philosophy or different. 
• Preparing system architecture for IEC 61850 based substation automation jobs. 
• Making Control and Protection philosophy using ELCAD software and Engineering Base Software. 
• Power and control cable selection and scheduling based on protection design requirement and customer specification.

• Doing FAT and supporting software team for FPT and DPT of HVDC/SVC projects. 
• Co-ordination with Factory for manufacturing of control and protection cubicles for Ongoing SVC projects. 
• Making system information and maintenance manual. 
• Feasibility Study/ System study for Adani Upgrade project from 1250 MW to 1500 MW per pole. 
• Review and coordination of GIS Local Control Drawing, Auxiliary Power such as PCC, MLDB, ELDB, ACDB, DCDB etc, and Cable schedule etc. for GIS Project. 
• Preparing technical documents and calculating cost for technical and commercial offer for SVC/HVDC/FSC projects. 

Job Responsibility in DEWA: 

Review, coordinate & support for all the work related to protection such as Line, Transformer, Bus coupler, Reactor and Bus bar protection etc. for 400, 132 and 11 kV Substation. 

• Review, coordinate and approval of other work such as LCC, Rating plate, Cable schedule, Fault recorder, 110V DC system, Metering and LVAC documents related to 400/132/11 kV ss. 
• Review, modification, coordination and approval of remote end related drawing such as line, LCC, Bus bar, fault recorder schematics etc. for 400/132/11kV ss. 
• Review and approval of protection related detail for station control system such signal list, architecture diagram, DC power supply etc. 
• Preparation of tender documents for 400/132/11 kV substation related to protection, fault recorder, metering and 110V DC system. 
• Custodian for prepation of DC specification, DC standard drawing, Battery layout, DC setting, SAT/FAT documents.
• Reviewing and providing feedback for Design related documents, specification, SAT/FAT procedure for protection, Fault Recorder system.
• Reviewing tender documents and scope and providing feedback & standard documents related to 132/11 kV ss.
• Coordination and resolving the issue raised by the manufacture, Contractor, consultant and testing and commissioning team during tender as well as execution stage.
• Preparing data base for Protection, Fault Recorder, Metering and DC system.
• Coordinating and monitoring project progress, risk and opportunities with Project management Team and Departments heads.
• Sharing project feedbacks, lesson learned among team member and keeping a records for future reference.
• Inspecting protection panel, Fault recorder, DC charger, batteries as per DEWA specification and FAT procedure.
• Responsible for approval of New DC and battery manufactures and their standard drawing based on DEWA DC standard documents and specification requirements. 
• Working on multiple GIS projects related to 132/11 kV substation such as TLALTNYA, DERATWRS, MRINACMN, TULIPSTR, MUSHPRK and UMRAMOOL substation. 
• Working on DC In-house replacements projects such as replacements of 110V DC charger, 48V DC charger, UPS, Portable charger and battery and battery rack for various 400 and 132 kV substation.
• Giving trainings and guiding the new colleagues as per their Induction program and Training schedule.
• Preparing, reviewing and site verification of MOS for all the maintenance (corrective, enhancement and routine) activities such as components replacements, relay replacements, relay testing, circuit modification, Setting revision, Cyber security, IFS data collection, Alarm addition/grouping, Firmware upgradation etc. under live or outage condition.
