About Sobia Durrani:
I am a self-driven, highly motivated professional who, over the years, has gained extensive skills in working directly with children within a primary school setting. I have worked across all years and through these roles I have seen the impact that my experience within teaching has had on my ability to assess and teach children of varying abilities. My work has provided me with very valuable experience in dealing with a diverse clientele on a friendly, professional basis. I always work to the best of my ability, which has been proven where children have achieved exceeding expectations in their learning.
I have also undertaken academic study and professional training to ensure that I can offer feedback, allowing me to provide successful assessments. Translating teaching experience into academic qualification, through studying for a BA (Hons) in Education degree, offered an opportunity to develop analytical skills. Academic study required the collection, analysis and interpretation of evidence and the consistent recording of relevant findings. Essay writing and project work all contributed to the experience of gathering evidence, whether consulting previous studies or conducting my own. Receiving consistent recognition for my outstanding performance demonstrates that I have achieved a level of excellence in this area. Whilst studying for my degree on a part time basis, I managed to work full-time and be a parent to my daughter who was only 3 months old when I started studying. I took it upon myself as a challenge and feel I was able to balance everything successfully.
Throughout my 21 years of work experience not only have I successfully supported other members of staff I have also planned, prepared and taught a range of children at all levels. With my extensive knowledge and determination and careful preparation, the children in my care have excelled in their learning. I have also been responsible for managing the supporting staff (5 members) across the Early Years setting at my current school to put into place specific interventions to support and enhance children’s learning. Although I have gained experience of working across the school I have spent over 10 years of my career working in Early Years, which is where my true love for teaching and learning lies.
I have undertaken relevant medical training, such as Epi pen training, First Aid and Asthma. I can also fluently speak Urdu, Punjabi and can understand Mirpuri. This skill has helped me to support both children and parents with EAL.
Experience
- Assisting the teacher in the management of the pupils and the classroom.
- Providing particular support for pupils including those with additional needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
- Assisting with the development of IEPs behaviour plans and personal care programmes.
- Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
- Supporting pupils consistently with recognising and responding to their individual needs.
- Planning, preparing, teaching and evaluating Maths and English lessons to specific target groups.
- Listening, supporting and discussing issues sensitively with parents and carers and to participate in feedback sessions/meetings with parents.
- Monitoring and evaluating pupil’s progress to learning activities through observation and adjusting learning accordingly.
- Managing the supporting staff across the Early Years setting to put into place specific interventions to support and enhance children’s learning.
- Whilst working in Reception, the class is split between the two adults. I have supported and taught my family group where every child has made progress and the majority have exceeded.
