Description:

Responsiblefor providing transcription support to a large, fast paced andheavy volume pathology department with 6 different healthcarelocations, and 24 hour turnaround for ourclients.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months prior transcription orsecretarial experience.
• Must have excellentknowledge of medical terminology, English grammar, composition, andspelling.
• Must have word processing experience,and ability to type sixty (60) words perminute
• Education – High SchoolDiploma
  

PatientDemographics:

• Checking toensure that patient's name iscorrect.
• Checking to ensure that the part typesare correct and there are nodiscrepancies.
• Notifying Histologypersonnel/Pathologist's Assistants/Pathologists regardingcorrection of any
  

name/part-typediscrepancies.

Transcribing ofreports:

• Transcriptionwork related to pathology reports (both gross and microscopicdescription) to include:
• Gross descriptiondictated by Pathologists Assistants or Pathologists on surgicalreports, autopsies, cytologies, placentas, and bone marrowreports.
• Typing and expediting frozensection/touch prep gross dictations/frozen section/touch prepdiagnoses dictated by Pathologists
• Muscle andkidney biopsies dictated by Pathologists Assistants orPathologists
  

Additional Skills& Qualifications:

• Must be able to work independentlywith minimal supervision.
• Completestranscription duties in a timely manner and produces the necessaryquantity of work required.
• Produces highquality pathology reports.
