    Description

    1.JOBPURPOSE:

    PreparingMechanical design concepts and studies as required andsupervising/managing Mechanical designs carried out by externalconsultants.

    2.KEY RESULTS &ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Experienced in Buildings facilities andprojects.

    Responsible for managing the DesignProcess to ensure that the designs comply with the objectives ofthe Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector.

    Ensure that all requirements have beenexplicitly and clearly specified and incorporated into the ProjectRequirementsDocument.

    Monitor manage and supervise Mechanicaldesigns and planning issues to ensure design is cost effective fitfor purpose and value for money.

    Manage and control design aspects andensure that the correct level of services is chosen for eachproject.

    Provide necessary supports to otherDepartments during postcontract stage for the best interest of theCorporate Administrative Support ServicesSector.

    Ensure effective communication betweenthe Engineer contractor third parties and stakeholders and thatestablished communication procedures are followed to resolve anydesignissues.

    Support and involvement in reviewing alldesign stages until the designs are approved asrequested.

    Identify theneed for develop and manage cost effective designs of new projectsand refurbishmentworks.

    Lead &manage the development of buildings/facilities context planningutilities & infrastructure designs for newprojects.

    Contribute tothe preparation of design concept feasibility and masterplan designproposals to meet Corporate Administrative Support Services Sectorobjectives and consider external clientsrequirements.

    Review ofthirdparty design proposals for works to Corporate AdministrativeSupport Services Sector s assets to assess compliance withestablished standards and check that they contribute to theachievement of Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector sgoals.

    Lead orcontribute to the preparation of design managementplans/conservation plans for listed and otherwise statutorilyprotectedbuildings.

    Provide a professional costeffective technical advice service to other clientDepartments.

    Lead &manage the procurement and works of Mechanical design consultantsandcontractors.

    Lead manage& review all mechanical designs of all the projects underconstruction and/orrenovation/refurbishment.

    Provide input tothe project terms of reference & in the evaluation of thebidders.

    Provide supportto the development implementation and maintenance of the CorporateAdministrative Support Services Sector Mechanical design standardsandguidelines.

    Coordinatedesign activities with developers and other projects affected bythe plannedworks.

    Assist in theprequalification of consultants & contractors as well as inthe preparation of project plans andspecifications.

    Manage thespecifications of all mechanical works including but not limited toHVAC firefighting plumbing infrastructure and utilities networkspublic services connections MEP equipment setc.

    Lead &manage/review the maintenance & clearing systems andmaintenance access proposed and to advise on the impact &suitability of thesesystems.

    Ensure firehealth; safety and environmental regulation are adhered to in thedesign of newprojects.

    Ensure that theMechanical designs are coordinated with structures Architectural& other disciplines to ensure that it is within clientstandards and local & international bestpractices.

    Carry outinspection visits to sites to ensure that the work is according tothe approved drawings & materials.To prepare and submit inspection report to themanagement whenneeded.

    Review &approve methods statements submitted by theengineers/contractors.

    Manage andfacilitate design competitions held by the department.

    Performs otherresponsibilities associated with this position whenappropriate.

    Should beavailable on call 24/7



    Requirements

    Bachelor sdegree in mechanical engineering from a recognized universityrequired.

    Minimum 37 yearsof experience in relatedfields.

    Excellentknowledge and intensive experience in transportprojects.

    Excellent designand presentational skills including use of CAD PowerPoint andfreehanddrafting.
