    Our client, one ofAfrica's leading renewable energy companies, is seeking aBusiness Development Manager, who will manage the businessdevelopment activities in South Africa (and support the rest ofAfrica's business development when required) throughout theproject development cycle, ensuring bankable The incumbent willprovide required input and support to other departments, includingengineering, finance, project finance, ESG, corporate, and ; Theideal incumbent will have experience managing bilateralnegotiations, bid preparation, and coordination in order to ensurecompetitive, complete, and compliant bids and commercial offerswithin the renewable energy

    Responsibilities:

    • Develops an in-depth understanding ofopportunities for utility-scale solar PV and wind projects inAfrica in order to identify feasible projects
    • Develops relationships and liaise with potentialoff-takers, authorities, regulators and utilities
    • Identifies and nurtures relationships with local/regionaldevelopers, contractors, consultants and advisors to identifyproject opportunities
    • Prepares budgets tosecure the resources necessary to achieve projectcompliance
    • Performs risk assessments andcorresponding mitigation strategies as applicable related to theprojects to inform business decisions
    • Duediligence of prospective partners and projects foracquisition
    • Keeps up to date with industrypolicy and legislation and assist in briefings to the wider team onissues affecting development and project viability
    • Manages and reports on the tracking of project pipelineand of competitors in the market
    • Engage withpotential off takers in order to pursue private PPAopportunities
    • Identify and manage bilateralPPA negotiation opportunities
    • Identify andpursue tender opportunities for private PPAs
    • Identifies tender opportunities in order to secure PowerPurchase agreement
    • Bid preparation andco-ordination in order to ensure compliant bids
    • Support the project finance team during tendersubmissions, providing and assessing the technical inputs to thefinancial model
    • Coordinate the EPC andO&M Contract negotiation and assisting in the management ofthe contractor RFP (procurement) process
    • Ensure that grid connection requirements are assessed andstudied in order to ensure Power Plant Grid connectivity andsupports grid team with network connection applications andagreements including interfacing with utilities
    • Leading due diligence of prospective wind and/or solardevelopment project acquisitions to determine projectfeasibility

    Requirements:Qualification and Skill

    • 3–5 year work experience in renewable PowerPlant development
    • BSC Electrical/Mechanical orBusiness School or similar qualification
    • GoodUnderstanding of renewable energy project developmentprocesses
