    About TheRole

    The responsibilities ofthe Operations Manager, reporting to the Facility Manager, include,but are not limited to, the operation of the Facility. TheOperations Manager will organize and coordinate the day-to-dayactivities of the operations personnel, establish priorities forrepair work and projects, help plan and schedule outage work andprovide technical guidance or, if required, direction duringunusual operations, repair problems or system upsets. This positionrequires availability to respond to plant issues when necessary andto manage and direct unscheduled outages with the MaintenanceManager.

    The Operations Manager, will conductor participate in studies to improve the plant operations,maintenance or equipment, and monitor the effectiveness of plantmanuals and procedures, instituting changes or additions, asrequired. The Operations Manager is responsible for maintainingcompliance along with facility management with Technical Standardsas they relate to facility operations. The Operations Manager willperform these duties, as well as other duties, as directed bysupervisory personnel.

    The Operations Manager,having responsibility for the technical aspects of the plantoperation will recruit, interview and select operations personneland direct their initial training. The Operations Manager overseesthe training of operators for upgrading and general proficiency toensure the availability of promotable people, the plants readinessto meet emergency or unusual situations and safe and efficientday-to-day operations.

    PositionRequirements:

    • The positionof Operations Manager requires (5) years of experience in thesupervision of the day-to-day operation of mass-burn, resourcerecovery equipment or fossil-fuel electric generatingunits.
    • The position of Operations Managerprefers five (5) or more years as a Mid-levelManager
    • While an engineering degree isdesirable, hands-on operating experience and utility training areacceptable. A high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability toread and understand instructions, operational training, safety, andhealth related materials and work rules arerequired.
    • Good oral and written communicationsskill is required.
    • To perform in this positionthe Operations Manager must be able to react to and manage unusualor emergency conditions and be in good physical condition in termsof mobility, hearing and vision isrequired.
    • ASME Provisional Resource RecoveryOperator Certification preferred, or the ability to obtain suchcertification.
