    Description

    A bit abouttherole:

    A globalpayments FinTech is seeking a Database Administrator to join theirdynamic team. The role will be based on-site in their offices inJohannesburg and will fall under the department of Group TechnologyDigital andPlatform.

    The purposeof this role is to build, operate and maintain end-to-end databaseplatforms for various use cases within the organization. Thecandidate will be responsible to build, automate, maintain, andenhance the database platform in a hybrid setup i.e., Private, andpublic clouds, based on Organization needs. The candidate will beresponsible for attending to and resolving all operational issuesincluding performance issues that arise from thedatabases.



    Requirements

    Yourdaily adventuresinclude:

    DatabasePlatform

    Ensure that thedatabases are designed, deployed, and maintained as per definedEnterprise standards and requirements. Ensure that the RPO and RTOgoals are alwaysmet

    Maintainacceptable performance levels across all databases. Analyse andwork with development teams to solve reported performance defectsontime

    Proactivelysupport systems, and analyse existing/potential issues with deepdive into rdbms and/or related SW (GI, ASM,OS)

    Automateday-to-day tasks wherever possible, implement shift-left andself-service practices to reduce human efforts spent on routinetasks

    Work with peersto build and maintain Infrastructure as a code pipeline forprovisioning databasestacks

    Understandingcore concepts of oracle optimizer, statistics, and tracing relatedtoperformance

    PLSQL coding ability for admin purposes, able to read/understand thecode written byothers

    Ensure reportedincidents are resolved as priority. Participate and contribute toRoot cause analysis and problem tickets that arise fromincidents

    Coordinatewithin the infrastructure team to deliver work appropriately andresolve any complex issues that require deeperanalysis

    Bea part of an out-of-office support roster on a rotational basis tobe able to respond to and resolve any high-priorityincidents

    Maintain goodrelationships with other stakeholders and ensure appropriatecommunication on all importantevents

    Providetechnical support for internal and external clients on escalatedissues

    Evaluate any newfeatures and products that best fit user cases and drive adoptionof the features across theorganisation

    Perform otherduties as assigned by the linemanager.

    ChangeManagement

    • Raisechanges and follow the business process for delivering those inprodsystems
    • Ensureinventory with configuration across the organization are up to dateand all changes done reflected there withoutexclusions
    • Forinternal changes collaborate with other involved teams, and makechanges to the existing business processes for its optimization ifrequired

    Incidents/ planned/unplanned DRscenarios.

    • Involvedin technical discussions with vendors/developers / appsupport
    • Periodicallydo/plan DR activity for core PROD systems, automate such BAUactivities
    • Providesupport for critical incidents in PROD systems during non-officehours in case of service breach for externalclients

    Whatit takes tosucceed:

    6-9years of experience in the field of Oracle databaseadministration

    2years of experience in managing databases inAWS

    2years of experience in handling postgres andmysql

    Mandatorytechnical skills: - Oracle 12c,19c on Linux platforms, Oracle on AWS RDS and AWS EC2, RAC, ASM,Active Dataguard, RMAN, TDE, Partitioning, PL/SQL, Advancedperformance tuning, Scripting, Rolling upgrades and patching,In-depth knowledge on AWS ecosystems such as VPC, Subnets, Securitygroups, ACLs, IAM, EC2, EBS options, Backups andSnapshots.

    Preferred:- OEM Cloud control administration, Other RDBMS such as PostgreSQL,SQL Server, MySQL. NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB. Bamboo, GIT,Jira. Understanding of agile methodologies and DevopsEcosystem.
