Legal Manager, Middle East & Shisha International

What this position is about - Purpose


The Legal Manager Middle East & Shisha Int' (ME & Shisha) will work closely with the ME & Shisha Legal Director and provide legal support on issues affecting, and policies applicable to, the JTI ME & Shisha Cluster markets.

This position will act as the main point of contact for the functions, markets, and departments within the cluster, helping to assess the operating environment across the cluster and ensuring compliance of activities with current markets' legislation/practice.

This position will provide legal assistance in analyzing and revising contracts and other complex ME & Shisha business documents.

Active participation in business and legal meetings, coordination with internal and external legal resources, and in-depth legal research and analysis of local laws in ME & Shisha Cluster Markets will be required.


What will you do - Responsibilities:

  • Provides legal counsel, advice review, and direction on an assigned basis to various functions and members of the organization
  • Researches and assesses local laws in each market. Performs complex research on legal issues whether statutory or contractual and with JTI Policies and Procedures
  • Responsible for the review, drafting, and legal negotiation of agreements and other legal documents for the Legal Department. Works closely with the Legal Director in managing contractual issues associated with the sales, distribution, and promotion of products in ME & Shisha cluster markets
  • Works closely with the Legal Director in the implementation and monitoring of Competition law Policy as well as International Economic Sanctions. Responsible for the preparation of training materials for these matters, including delivering the necessary training to ME & Shisha colleagues
  • Acts as primary ME & Shisha Legal Department contact for outside attorney communications on assigned regulatory projects/issues. Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of ME & Shisha contract management processes and procedures as well as with Departmental legal reports. Performs complex research on legal issues whether statutory or contractual and with JTI Policies and Procedures. Other duties as

Whom are we looking for - Requirements:

  • Law Degree from an accredited Law School
  • Strong negotiation, human relations, communications skills, and cultural sensitivity as well as a resultsoriented outlook are critical requirements
  • Fair understanding of the political environment
  • At least 5 years of experience in a law firm and/or multinational corporation, and demonstrated competence as a practicing attorney in international business transactions, contracts, trade, distribution, and competition/antitrust areas
  • Experience in regulatory, finance, and international law is also a plus
