- Responsible for operational and administrative activities of the Center to include short- and long-range planning
- Implementing and managing day-to-day procedures
- Providing administrative support to the SHORES PIs, AD faculty associated with SHORES, and the Center Director; management of personal and shared calendars
- Coordination of internal meetings and with New York, organizing events and maintaining SHORES mailing lists, databases and files
- Assist with budget and financial management of the Center, including overseeing purchasing needs, reimbursement of SHORES personnel, processing honorariums, and other budget and expense data for the Center
- Review expenses and invoices for accuracy, investigate discrepancies, and report results to supervisor. Submit expense reports when necessary
- Organize small and large-scale events held by SHORES (e.g. workshops, conferences, panels, advisory board meetings, etc.) including arrangement of all event and guest logistics (e.g. travel, accommodation, transportation)
- Manage human resources of the Center - oversee hiring of researchers, review process, and leave tracking
- Coordinate the onboarding/offboarding of SHORES personnel (researchers, students, faculty, visitors) and manage SHORES visitors
- Draft correspondence and documents, some of which may be sensitive or confidential matters; coordinate with SHORES partners
- Develops MOU and budget proposals, offering recommendations for funding opportunities to support Center activities and ensure deliverables are fulfilled
- Writes communication and promotional literature for distribution such as Center brochure, event flyers and web content and coordinates design, printing, distribution and dissemination
- Help builds center website on WordPress; develops content, updates and maintains website
- Serve as Center lead to build and maintain working relationships with NYUAD Budget, HR and Research Institute team members and other departments involved in the project
- Bachelors Degree
- Master's Degree in Management or Business
- 5+ years of high-level administrative experience
- Experience in a university setting dealing with senior leadership, faculty, students, researchers, and local research administration professionals
- Understanding of finance and budgeting and the ability to assess data for statistical reports
- Experience in project management including resource planning, financial management, change management, and motivating team initiatives
- Superior written and oral communication skills in English
- Strong organizational skills Ability to work autonomously and multi-task effectively in a start-up environment including instances where policies and procedures require further development
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple processes and requests on tight deadlines with attention to detail Professional maturity and judgment consistent with leadership-support responsibilities, including exceptional discretion, confident communications skills, and a capacity for a resourceful initiative in a team context
- Capacity to work collegially and flexibly in a dynamic setting characterized by a complex organizational structure comprising New York University in Abu Dhabi and other New York University campuses

New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Center Manager, Sand Hazards & Opportunities for Resilience, Energy & Sustainability (SHORES) reporting to the Center Director.
The Center Manager will manage the operations of the Research Center and provide high-level administrative management and support to the Center Director, Co-PIs, Assistant Director, Researchers, Postdocs, Students, and other members of the Center. In particular, the incumbent will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Research Center, with different tasks related to the Center's planning, administration, organization, financial, and communication processes.
The type of activities will vary from the more challenging and exciting outreach projects involving external stakeholders to help direct the research agenda relevant to the UAE, MENA and NYUAD. Maintain strong partnerships to effectively sustain access to pertinent real-world, current sustainability and resilience challenges as well as benefit NYUAD through external student learning, ambassadorship and placements opportunities as well as help identify funding resources from potential sponsors to support center activities. A high degree of initiative, independence of action, and ability to achieve results without explicit guidance are expected, as is the ability to work quickly and efficiently, particularly during busy times.
