Adeel Siddiqi

I am a US-licensed legal professional with extensive experience in corporate law, contract negotiation, and compliance. I am currently Senior Legal Counsel at EWEC, where I provide legal advice across various directorates, focusing on compliance, risk mitigation, and digital transformation. I hold a Juris Doctor (JD) and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Political Science.
 

My professional experience includes diverse legal roles within multinational corporations and semi-government entities in both the UAE and the USA.
 

Since March 2023, I have been with EWEC in Abu Dhabi, currently serving as Senior Legal Counsel (2024-Present) after an initial period as Legal Counsel (2023-2024). In this role, I provide legal advice and support across various directorates, including Business Continuity Management, Communications, Enterprise Technology (IT), General Services, Human Capital, Internal Audit, Legal and Regulatory, Procurement, and System Operations teams, with a focus on compliance and risk mitigation. I am also responsible for drafting and reviewing contracts, identifying and evaluating risks, and providing legal guidance for digital transformation initiatives.
 

Before joining EWEC, I worked as a Legal Consultant at Silal, an ADQ subsidiary, from December 2022 to March 2023. There, I evaluated and drafted complex agreements, conducted compliance screenings, and managed assignments for other legal counsel.
 

From February 2022 to June 2022, I served as Senior Legal Counsel at Samsung Electronics in Dubai. My responsibilities included managing the drafting, review, and approval process for the logistics planning and shared services division, and ensuring business practices aligned with local laws and company policies.
 

My longest professional engagement was with Emerson in Abu Dhabi, from June 2014 to January 2022. I progressed through various positions, including Contracts/Commercial Advisor (2014-2015), Counsel (2015-2018), and Sr. Counsel (2018-2022). In these roles, I drafted, evaluated, and negotiated complex agreements, served on the Emerson global contracts leadership team, supported corporate governance, trained staff, and investigated claims.
 

Earlier in my career, I gained experience as a Law Clerk at Allen & Overy in February 2014, where I conducted legal research and drafted client correspondence. I also worked as an Associate (Internship) at Reed Smith in January 2014, producing legal advice from research and reviewing contracts. I began my legal career as a Freelance Attorney and Counselor at Law in Houston, Texas, from November 2012 to December 2013, focusing on litigation, criminal, personal injury, and family matters.

I earned my Juris Doctor (JD) in May 2012 from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas. Prior to that, I completed my Bachelor of Science (BS) in Political Science with a minor in Global Business from the University of Houston in May 2009, also in Houston, Texas.
